Default Enduro SL fork meets its maker

Wow, only ridden this bike for 2 months and the fork is fubar'd already. Left hand stanchion has oil all over it and despite me setting the air pressure jsut under my weight the thing is almost fully rigid over anything but a big hit where the spike valve opens. By the time I got down San Juan my hands were numb and I even picked up a large blister. Rebound also barely works.
Anyone else suffered the scurge of the 07 E150 fork?

You should buy Sara's Lyrik and keep the Enduro fork (after repair) as a back up or eBay it.

I've seen a number of threads on the mtbr Specialized forum about this issue (and others) with the E150 fork.

Here's a big one:

When a shop here in north SD county got a shipment of new Enduros in when they came out, they received 2 bikes where the forks were already broken out of the box from Specialized. They also had one blow up on a test ride after the bike had only been at the shop for 2 days.

We don't care about your off bike in the bushes behaviors, but that is a bummer about the fork.

It must have been pretty cold out there. Better use some lube next time so you don't get blisters Keith.

I have an 08 enduro sl that I rode at Southridge today and it worked well. I've heard the 08's are updated from the problems of 07, time will tell. This is only my 4th ride or so on the bike but it was a demo from Incycle. Thanks INCYCLE/Mark. I hope your problems get sorted out.

Yep, I have an enduro SL 07 as well. I've had 2 cartridges replaced in the fork, but my LBS has been pretty darn good, so my down time has been minimal...

may have issues yes. but they've been very good at sending out replacement carts. mostly just see the left side, air needing replacing. only have replaced 4 of the right ride.
has to be about 17 now of the air side. this is only with 07 forks. and only with 1-2 generations of.

things to look for,
seals are slightly popping up
weird clunking noise
not holding air

also, sometimes the travel adjust stops working. get a new cart, don't wait for something else to go wrong. the air could leak out on a dh run. have only had one injury for this one.

all of these that i've done, have been under warranty. and all have been 2 day air or next air to the shop.

Seems like it's time for a recall, if they haven't already.
This sounds like a liability suit waiting to happen.

all the new 2008 are fixed. i've had the rest of the 2007s replaced with new internals anyway ahead of time.

the only thing that has ever happened weird on the Stumpy s-works fork, is the "sag" rubber band, actually gets sucked into the seals. so just cut off and use a zip tie.

Read all the posts on MTBR about this issue. Looks like the best fix is to get them to fork over (ho ho) a full 08 fork. This is my only mountain bike now so i cant afford any down time on it. I'll jsut keep on riding it until Spesh send me some parts.

I have an 07 SL and have had my air cartridge replaced once already. But this one has been good so far (knock-on-wood). I know a lot of people have had problems with the fork, but I think those problems might be worth it for such a great climbing/handling/descending bike. I try to look on the positive side!
