Not tired of the bike, I originally built it to be an experiment with the Dark Side.. It served it's purpose and did it well, But after riding Roger's Socom at Funtuckey Something in the geometry and feel of the bike just seems to work better for me.

Somebody gonna get a smokin deal on the ASX though

I enjoy the process and the challenges keep it interesting. i built the chopper in my Avitar and finally realized that I enjoyed building motorcycles more than riding them/ Rob will get the Seat tube reeamed at his work before i return home from my trip and quick swap with MWH and she is good to go

How would you feel about selling me that Roco on that ASX plus a little switcharoo for my DHX5?

Sex on wheels.....

I've read a few times about Intense "forgetting" to ream out a seat tube or bottom bracket, etc.. But that just goes to show you how "Fresh" the bike is. haha so fresh indeed that they forget to ream things.

I'll be getting a Socom sometime in early 09' - but I will give em a call and make sure they ream the seat and bottom bracket before shipping.

Sick bike Jeff!

Also sorry to hear about the lack of reaming on the seat tube. This is a fairly common problem with Intense frames. My 6.6 was delivered with a glob of weld 2" into the seat tube because they forgot to ream it. My UZZI SLX would only allow a post to be inserted in only 4", and my 5.5 only allowed 7".

I'm sure you're going to have lots of fun with the new steed!
Chainguide compatability is a nightmare. We are trying are best. It is so hard because there are so many compatability issues: stay clearance, pivot clearance, ISCG old vs ISCG 05, Chainline clearance, ring size compatability, chainring bolt pattern. Most of the manufacturers are pretty clueless about which guides fit thier bikes. As soon as we think we have a bike/guide/crank/BB combo figured out, with just a little grinding, E13 has yet another guide option. Now, we look like we're just pushing what we have on you guys. It would be one thing if there was a big DH/FR seen locally and folks were buying chainguides all of the time like front deraileurs or something. The fact is, I sometimes go weeks at a time without being asked about chainguides.

I know exactly what guide to use on at least half a dozen bike models. That still leaves me clueless for most bikes.

It's not E13s fault. They're just trying to make guides that fit everything.

So, we stock like $2000 worth of E13 guides, and we still have to special order guides all of the time. When we install a guide, we are often in the same boat as you guys. We often resort to researching message boards, or trial and error. Our techs install as many guides as anyone in this area. We all know which guides fit the bikes that we ride, and the bikes that we have installed a guide on lately. Other than that it can be a bad can of worms.

Maybe we can start working on a chainguide compatability chart.

When we bought Roger's Socom I called Intense to make sure that the ISCG old was still what they were using and they are. We had no problems installing the SRS on both of our bikes.

I got

"um wait um ISCG 05 hmmm old..."

Intense has gone through a few tech guys lately, so maybe I just got them on a bad day.

So, you are not running the wide back plate?

Tani,
No worries! I really wouldn't expect you AND ALL of your staff to know ever configuration of all chain guides with all frames - especially considering the general lack of demand for these products in our area. Heck, even trying to nail the popular ones is still difficult. But as a consumer, we should also bear some responsibility and do some of our own research as well and not only rely on what parts are in front of us. I guess that was really my point. In no way did I intend this to sound like a slam.

I called Chad at Intense directly and he confirmed with Andrew. We are running the ISCG old backplate. I have never heard of the "wide" one. The last time I bought an SRS from you guys I got the new one by mistake and had to exchange it for the old one.

I knew you were not slamming us. I know that you are just a strait shooter, and a nice guy.

I am just that sensitive about some things, and felt like sharing my excuses and frustrations.

On a side note, we once lost a customer and got slammed hard on the internet over a three way disagreement between our techs, Santa Cruz, and onother bike shop about the best solution for this one guys chainguide issues.

Peace

In the case of my non-reamed 6.6, it was no big deal, since I caught it before the frame was built up.
If you owned a machine shop like I do that would be a HUGE deal if your name was on it.

My intense frame was 100% flawless in every way, shape and form. And for the money they charge I would expect nothing less.

Ah man! Not the "nice guy" label! I think I liked it better when people called me an a-hole.

Yes, I often am often a little too quick to be overly honest with what I'm thinking. My boss reminds me of that front time to time (and not necessarily in a good way). On the other hand, if someone wants a true opinion, I'll surely give it to them, which is why I'm often asked to evaluate various things at work (but also why my boss sometimes knows not to ask my opinion if he doesn't really want to hear it)

Sorry Jeff for derailling your thread. I am looking forward to seeing you on your new steed.

And in some cases, like the one you mentioned, sometimes the manufacturers really don't know their products as well as the shops who use and work on them. Sorry to hear about that loss. Customers can be easy to lose, but hard to gain.

Lee, I know you have a hard edge despite your nice persona.

I hope I am not so sensetive that you have to be carefull what you say. I prefer it reall even if it hurts.

I do know folks who only see the negative side of things. I have found your posts on these boards to be well ballanced.
