Default a couple questions

As I'm getting the chuba together there are a couple problems I am running in to.
First, the thing on the bb that connects to the cranks has about a quarter inch of play back and fourth, is this supposed to be right (didn't happen on my last bike).
Second, I am having a little trouble getting the cranks on the bb. It looks like it has the same number of grooves, but grooves seem to be a little wide. Should I just "mallet" them on?
Also, how do i know what length the chain has to be?

I think that's about it, I may edit it later. I am going to my lbs and having the headset removed and pressed in the the chumba.

Thanks,
Ryan

What bottom bracket and crankset? Isis, External?

For chain, run it around the biggest chainring and biggest cog (not through the rear derailleur) and add two links. If you're running a chain guide be sure to run the chain through the guide when measuring.

If this is your first time doing this, I would just have the bike shop set you up. It won't cost much and they might you watch how it's done.

Also, Park Tools website has a great tutorial.

I dont think any of my questions relate to the frame its self, just the crank, bb, and chain, but thanks for the reply.

I highly recomend the Park Tool website... hey will walk you through anything. Please do not use the Mallet, I know it is tempting but in this case the old solution of "get a bigger Hammer" will only cost you more $$ in the long run..

Which Truvative Cranks?? What type of BB??

Default Call me I will talk you through it.

I dont mind helping you get your bike set up. I can show you all the tricks to building bikes. The BB is a 73 MM check and see if your bb set is a 73mm if it is I can walk you through. Its easy.

I got the play in the bb fixed and it turns out I have isis cranks and and isoflo bb, so I'm gonna call some shops around tomorrow to see if I can pick up a pair.

My to-do list is :
get rear shock set up (I dont know how to get air in it, but havent looked yet and sure its easy)
Setup crankset
Setup chain
RE-wire and tune rear and front derailer
Maybe cut the steerer tube too or just find some spacers

Hopefully I dont run into any problems and can do the "learn to huck" clinic over at southridge on sunday.
