I am looking to get a new seat post and saddle. I did a search on on here and could not find any info. Just wondering if the i beam is a piece of junk that will crack or break on me? I am indifferent between saddles and seat post that uses rails or i beam. I am just trying to get well informed. thanks

The only seatpost I recall having an I-beam design was the old control tech posts and they were virtually unbendable. I'd recommend them if you can find one these days.

Check out the Kore seatpost/seats. My buddy swears by them. Not to expensive either.

I've been using the SDG I-Beam on my XCL. It's nice and light and allows for a much wider range of adjustability than your normal seat/saddle combination.
But I think the biggest plus for me is that there's no chance for seat rail creak. That's gotta be one of the most annoying sounds when you're grinding out a climb. |

I use the SDG seatpost but switched to the KORE seat. The SDG seat has a solid beam straight down the middle that doesn't flex at all. The KORE seat is designed so that it has some flex which makes it more comfortable on long rides.

I was wishing for something like this the other day as I was adjusting my wife's saddle to her liking. traditional rails with clamps just suck for fine adjustments.
wow, this opened my eyes up to something new. they aren't expensive at all for the range of adjustment.

They had the KORE seat on PricePoint for $40.00.

SDG I-Beams are the shiz. Rockin one on the DH for my big bottom and no issues.
FWIW, too the peeps with the sensitive bottoms, SDG is coming out with a new saddle that has a nice flex zone in it which you may want to give a look at.

I broke the seat right off on a DH run in Provo UT the jagged remnants almost cut off my Sack. I think it was a older one. I have a newer one on one of my DH bikes and it seems much stiffer. It is really light also.

We used to run SDG on all of our demo bikes, and they were just thrashed by the end of the season, I hear that they are much more durable now...and have some new product that looks pretty good..

![]() It had a split rail I-beam! So no more solid beam of plastic down the center. Should flex a lot more like a traditional railed saddle. The "rails" suspend the saddle but still use the I-Beam mounting system that gives the rad adjustability. The saddle had a nice shape to it, too. The more angular cut is designed to supposedly allow you to slide back off the saddle easier by letting your thighs get around and behind faster/easier. I haven't ridden it but after looking it over I was pretty excited to try it out. New lighter seat posts coming out, too. |

I run the Kore I-Beam seat post with Kore Enduro and Big Nose saddles. They fit my butt, the post is silent and the post has infinite angle adjustment (no notches dictating the angle). I weigh about 180 with gear and have been problem free for a year. I switched all of my bikes to this system.
