Go with the low mount. The rockers will be in the way of the top mount.

Any reason why you're going with sram? I have all sram components on my bike but the front d is a shimano xt. I just had better experience with it. My $.02

I have the high one and it's worked flawlessly. No complaints. Then again I had a shimano on one of my other bikes that never gave me a problem in 5 years of use.

Tani is correct- until SRAM comes out with a x.o level dérailleur that matches shimano on performance, it's time to stick with shimano....unfortunately.

let's put it this way- out of the two geared MTB's in our house, the only shimano parts are the front dérailleurs.

yep. their "planned obsolescence" of having to change EVERYTHING every few years sucks.

I had a klein mantra with full XTR with a drivetrain that lasted three years of consistent riding (1-2 times a week) and when i finally wore everything out and couldn't replace anything, i just started to get away from shimano.

this is also a key reason I love SSing.

it takes less skill to SS, from what I've seen- riding the gearie i have to remember to shift- it's not just stand up and mash.

that and don't think you're knees will get damaged- my tendinitis ridden knees have never been healthier.

Default single speeding

If you singlespeed even some of the time, it will improve your riding skills and strength. It is also a full body workout.

I totally agree. I have a SRAM front, thinking it would be better than my Shimano front, but I actually prefer the Shimano. About the only Shimano things I like are their cranksets and their front der.

IMO, the SRAM rear drivetrain stuff and SRAM shifters are far superior. However, my beef with the SRAM front is not in its shifting, but rather the range on its shifting cage. It seems like it has a smaller cage, which causes the chain to rub in certain gear combos whereas, the Shimano would have no issue.

No doubt. SlowSS'er is right. I've had 2 knee surgeries, and my knees have felt way better since I started riding singlespeed. Just more ways to work a more variety of leg muscles sspeeding than sitting and spinning.

I love SRAM. Hate that front derailleur. The cage is huge, they're finicky to setup, and the aluminum stop that the limit screws hit are soft and will get chewed after awhile. Finally got it to work on an old hardtail.

So, buy any Shimano FD (deore, lx, XT-best bet) and save yourself some headaches.
