![]() Hope's are totally built proof, never had a problem with them but CMax SL's are lighter/stiffer and I'm not so bothered about having to replace the internals and freehub even if it is a $70 job each time. I always fancied a set of CK's because of the super fast engagement - I hear that riding technical rocky trails becomes easier with the benefit of that super fast engagement. You'd be happy with either CK, Hope (or Mavic if you arent bothered about maintenance of the nylon bits). Find out who is the top wheel builder at the path and have him (or her?! ) build you up a set if you decide to go non Mavic ![]()

I haven't read any responses, but don't ever sell King hubs! At least, that's my opinion. They are too pricey... anything from King is. Once you've got it, keep it!
That being said... I've had good luck with pre-built wheels from Mavic. I have a set of Crossmax XL wheels that we bought way back when we first started riding... about 2 years ago. They are on my Enduro now, and Justin rode them for awhile, and they are still going really strong!! Other than that, though, Justin builds all of our wheels now. |

My LBS is building up a set for my SS with silver 717's, White Industry hubs (bitchen
) 15ga, and alloy nips right now. The lad is a master wheel builder. I've been lucky enough to have one at my disposal for most of my life. I pretty much do all my own work sans wheels. A small fee to getta wheel done right the first time is worth it to me. Frees me up to do other things as well- like riding , and I dont have to invest in any tools/supplies. Just my .02 |
