Default Just when I started building my first bike..

I went ahead and got approved to work as a Correctional Officer here in CA.

Got my "clear for hire" letter today in the mail. It said I had passed my background investigation, the last step in the formal part of hiring. I still have a basic physical to pass (healthy 24 yr old) and a psych evaluation based on some questions I answered 6 months ago.

If you ever see those JOIN CDCR for $73k/yr! billboards by the freeway, let it be known that the hiring process takes 1 year before you get to an academy, and another 4 months of the academy before you get to work inside the lovely prisons. That's the stuff I wish I knew ahead of time.

I had just bought a kona frame at the path's sale, and was really looking forward to riding this bike around for a while but knew I could be sent away. I'm still going to finish it but i'll only have a month or two to enjoy it until I leave.

Anywho, I've only been to one group ride on here so no one knows me, but this site has been awesome. I really hope I can manage to get some time in the saddle once I start working at the prison.

I chose the Corona, Chino, or Norco prison to work at, so if anyone knows any good places to live out there, or some trails to hit, feel free to let me know in 6 months when I have to start looking.

I was looking forward to getting to do some of the winter series races, but i'll have to get the bonelli one and mt sac one in before i leave

how's he like it there?

Chino is my first choice, I think my professor from a couple years ago is still working there. Ask him if he knows a Henry Provencher

Didn't dig the first year so much. Luckily he only has 2 to 4 more to go .

Was kidding, actually. Should've thrown a smilie in the first post. Don't know a soul at Chino...yet. Good luck on your first choice!

Congrats. If you get Chino, then Chino Hills State Park is a 5 minute drive from the prison gate. I drive by Chino prison on my way to work each day.

There are plenty of places to live near Chino prison that are far enough away so you don't know the prison is even there. Chino Hills, parts of Chino, Corona, Ontario, etc. Just depends on what you are looking for (apartment, condo, house to buy or to rent).
