Maybe it's just me but I'm not of fan of the merged thread. I get the intent, merge like threads to keep the discussion centrally located.

However reading through merged threads is very disjointed, like a bunch on non-sequiturs. The problem grows worse when people don't quote the comment they are responding to.

Is this issue solved by changing the way I view threads? Meaning right now I view threads in the order they were posted.

Not having a recommended solution, other than to stop merging threads, I guess this is just food for thought for those smarter than me to figure out. (Or just ignore me

)

It gets really bad when the merge extends to multiple pages.

BTW This forum only does linear mode though the help page mentions threaded and hybrid.
