Question Women's Lounge Forum

What started as a joke has stirred some interest so I'm posting a poll to see what you might think about adding this to STR as it may be found to be helpful to the specific needs (questions??)of the bikerchicks. It's been great seeing the number of ladies joining on here .

Not a bad idea, although I have a feeling quite a few dudes will be lurking in it....maybe have Gouge make it so only women who are registered can view it....

Talked to sharky about that. We could have that or make viewing public but only women can post. Depends on what the ladies want, eh.

There are pros and cons to keeping it private/public because sometimes the men would like to post questions pertaining to ladies favorite gear, bikes, etc. that they're looking to get there GF/wives?? Other sites keep them public but would be great to see input on privacy settings once we see the final results of the poll. Thanks for the responses so far...

I'd vote to have it as an open forum and have a moderator handle any posts as in the other forum topics. Anything private can be handled with pm's.

If the girls believe they need a private forum, then they should have one. I am curious what biking related issues would warrant privacy. Help me out here girls. If you are tried of guys hitting on you, I understand, I have Laguna Beach as a location...guys can be such pigs.

That said, then we should have a private forum for 55 and older, overweight men, so I can have someone to relate to...and while I am thinking about it, a lycra wearing Hispanic Forum.

I just voted yes so the girls would think I support them...which I do.

Oops....sorry Dean...didn't mean to be misleading here. NOT suggesting a private forum...that privacy question was just part of Dino's post. The idea came up for a women's lounge forum similar to the one on MTBR. This would just be for posts specific to women related to biking. (Ideas, questions on gear, bikes, problem solving, rides....etc.)

But you make a good point because personally I would keep it public...not fair the others are public and ours would be private. Some of the info could be helpful to both sides. Just my epinion.

I say keep it open to everyone and just moderate it. And make it clear that this is not website to try to find a date

I'm pretty sure the women could take care of themselves as far as fending off would-be suitors. Especially mountain bike girrls. I know Sharky is perfectly capable of defending herself.

I think it would be a good one. Personally, I wouldn't visit because I just think it wouldn't apply to me. Like a downhill forum. I don't downhill and don't care too. So, I'd ignore that forum. But, I've often (just to try to veer off topic again; though I think this is, technically, in topic) thought a beginners forum would be good, specifically to post info about upcoming rides for beginners and stuff.

i'm all for a women's forumn. i don't really care if it's private or not, to tell you the truth. i'd just like to have a steady group of girl riders to go out with ... women in mountain biking is so rare! I'm lonely! heheh

OK... Burning sports bras...you first ...seeee...we could discuss that in the forum!!!
Also, "getting hit on" isn't an issue with that forum...Dean just mentioned that when he thought it was a privacy issue.
Wouldn't be a problem. And bikerchicks are tough...when we need to be for the most part .
(BTW Hope you got your hands on that Blur already, Sarah?) Oops...I did stay mostly on topic !!
