Default Poor Picture Quality

I always load my photos directly to this site. Previously, when you click on the photo, the photo would enlarge to it's actual size and quality in the IE screen. Now when you click on a photo, it enlarges in a different type of screen but to a very low resolution.

Why are the photos now shown in such poor quality?

It depends on how the photos are posted. Look at the photos I posted in the Vintage BMX Show thread. Vintage BMX Show

Click on the photos I posted, then click on the photo that mr.hobbs reposted showing the parts for sale on the ground in the same thread.

I resize mine, then upload them to my photo gallery. Then I use the "Insert Image" option and paste in the url of the jpg. I use the smaller size from the photo gallery, so if you want to see the larger one, you have to go to my Photo Gallery.

They look exactly the same to me.

I've just uploaded them directly into the thread. I suppose now that the photo uploading method is now jacked, and I should figure out how to use start a photo gallery.

I think you're referring to the lightbox version where it darkens the rest of the page and it enlarges and centers the photo. It's just a way to enlarge the photo without getting bugged by new windows and long downloads. If you still want to see the original full-size version click the lightbox version again. And if enough people don't like that I can always turn it off.

Is your IE automatically resizing those pics?

When you click on your pics and you get the fuzzy picture, if you mouse over, do you get a magnifying glass icon?

And BTW - it's much cooler in Firefox. Picture zooms actually open up in a lightbox.

That's it! That explains it.
The lightbox version (sorry, I didn't know that term) is also quite a bit smaller with low resolution, but I didn't know I could click on it again to get the full quality view.

My opinion is to turn off the lightbox view.

Wierd, sometimes Lightbox loads, and sometimes it loads them in a separate window (like before). It seems to be inconsistent!!!

I can see where that confusion could stem from. It doesn't actually hint that you can click on it again to see the original/full version.

Actually on my IE (PC/IE7), zooms don't open in a lightbox. The image is just shown alone. I'm guessing IE doesn't like the CSS/JS used.

I'm guessing it's only for attachments that were made after the upgrade? I could be wrong though.

Lightbox is free software you can download. You add a script in your html code to display pictures in a window that resizes based on the size of the photo.
