Overview
Lightbox is a simple, unobtrusive script used to overlay images on the current page. It's a snap to setup and works on all modern browsers http://www.lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/#example

That's exactly what I see, and I already get that letterbox. If anything, I'd want to get rid of the letterbox (I now know I can click on the image again to see the full view).

That way, you don't have to hit the back button and wait for everything to reload after viewing a zoom. You just hit the close button the the overlaid image goes away. |

If you click on the link I posted, it will give you an actual example of how it works. It is designed to create a window and resize it to the size of the actual photo automatically.

However, it looks like the overlayed (letterbox) image is smaller than the full-sized version. Finding and clicking on the close icon or the X mark takes a little bit more time than clicking the back button on my mouse.

This won't solve the 'smaller than full size version' issue but as far as speed . . . you don't necessarily have to click the "X". You can also click anywhere on the darkened background and it goes away.

I don't see any value in it. I like clicking on a small photo and then seeing a big photo as I've been doing here in the past. I did read through the site you posted, but I didn't find anything of value that made any sense to me.

I was going to try and download it to try it, but I don't understand the setup instructions. Obviously, computers aren't my thing.

Does anyone have specs on frame size and max file size for posting photos such that they don't need to be resized in Lightbox or otherwise (such as the photos in today's post "Some photos out of Iraq")?
Is there a "test" page somewhere - like a shooting range? |

No pain no gain

To stay in the frame without making the page wider than it is I think the images cannot be much larger than 800 pixels.
