Default Coming soon: featured RR's

Bret and I were talking about this the other day as a way to promote some of the great RR's we get here.

So here's the idea . . .

Each weekend people go out on awesome rides and posts RR's in the next few days. Tuesday morning we will start a poll to vote for the best RR that week. Voting will go on all day Tuesday then tuesday evening/wednesday morning we'll make a little promo banner for that RR which will go on the homepage for that week until the next RR of the week is chosen. At the end of the month, the 4 featured RR's will go up on a poll and the person who made the winning RR will get a prize (yet to be determined).

Of course they'll be a limit to how many times you can be featured/win . . . and yes, thinking of allison motivated the need for that limit.

fun idea guys - obviously your call and nice "concern" on spreading the wealth but why limit them. If Allison (or anyone) continuously posts some kick a$$ RR's i say give them mad props. She has always posted some great stuff but there are a few that certainly give her more than a run for the money - let the games begin!

maybe even reach out to Maxwells newest best bud at the OC register http://www.socaltrailriders.org/foru...d-whiting.html
and have them post a few of the RR's in his outdoors section

and for the record imo the best prizes are hops based (mad hops for rr's on tops)

anyway whatever you do am sure it will be cool - good stuff!

I may have to rethink my self imposed policy of not doing another RR on a trail I already did a RR on.

Are the RR's going to be limited in any way? Those of us that travel a lot will have a unfair advantage over those that remain local.

Some times is nice to see a RR of a local trail trough some else eyes, they see thing you never notice before or it just looks better.

Hey Geo --

Now that you've mentioned this thing for the future, howzabout pointing us back at some of the all-time best RRs from the past? Maybe make a sticky out of it that you can add the future ones to as they proliferate (even if they are all Allison's posts...).

Just an idea... I love the RRs.

Another way of looking at it is that the time, effort, and money it takes to travel is rewarded by awesome 'new' trails that can be the raw material for epic RRs.

Well there's this page:
http://www.socaltrailriders.org/ride-reports.php

It will be cool once this weekly featured RR is being done - we could make an archive of the RR's that have been featured. Could make for a pretty cool list of RR's.

Very nice George I appreciate all the work you put into keeping this site going. It would be nice to have the RR's arranged or be to searched by in geographic order.

True enough. Like the others, I didn't know this was there, and it is 51 pages of reports! Yikes -- looks like I have some reading to do!!!

But as others have mentioned, it would be cool to have it somehow sortable, etc.

Don't put any time into it, though. It's more worth it to put the emphasis on the future RRs I think.

Great job!
