Just thought I'd add this to help simplify things a bit more and as a reminder. I had recently rediscovered these and myself have made more of an effort to follow these guidelines I don't always succeed but try. This has been a good thread and like hearing the input on this we all have our epinions on it. My earlier post was also based on conversations I've had with several long and short term members over this past year. My epinion I would like to see the ratio of posts greatly lean towards the wheels that's what I come here for. Ratio the key word... not do away with all non-biking stuff.

Posting Guidelines
Just some simple guidelines to follow. Most of it is simple common sense.

1. Be respectful.
2. Your posts should be constructive. Any member posting for the sole purpose of increasing their post count will have the posts deleted.
3. Corrections to other’s information should not be condescending in nature. This is a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. You are expected to remain civil and express your thoughts in a mature manner.
4. Threads are expected to be kept on the original topic. If you want to discuss another subject, feel free to create a new thread in the proper forum.
5. Posting pornography (ANYTHING over PG13) is prohibited.
6. You must have a post count above 25 to post a for sale ad.
7. Anything deemed to be SPAM or SPAM in nature by the admin or moderators will be deleted. Any account used for the sole purpose of advertising a product, company, or service will be deleted.
8. Any posts or threads about riding known illegal trails will be deleted.
9. The socaltrailriders.org administrator and moderators reserves the right to edit or delete any post/thread we deem necessary.
10. Enjoy the ride

One extra click to send a pm. If you want to respond to someone via pm simply click on their name and a drop down menu appears where you select send a pm. I won't speak for George but I doubt he's going to spend a bunch of programming time to save one click.

If you want to show the context of the reply you'll have to cut and paste text. If I just PM'd "No" what would it mean if the OP forgot what he posted (yesterday - last week) ?

The main purpose is not to save one click but to tempt people into using PM's. Give them another chance at a PM before they hit "Submit"

Since thread conversations are so disliked by some people I would expect George to spend a lot of effort. (Besides isn't programming fun?)

I agree that it has not changed, just more of everything. Just can't keep up with all the post, imformative or not.



Still is a great place IMO, just seems a lot more drama lately that's all.

I was ask to become a MOD and accepted, wouldn't change it. I like getting on STR late at night in the wee hours and merging threads, moving them to the proper forum or deleting post to streamline the thread better.

Before when I was really bored, I go and correct some misspelled words.

I know you must have corrected my spelling a few times. So thanks Gene!

The way I look at is just post and be happy. If you post a lot so be it. I have read some peeps post on here and I could not give two sh#%s about. I actually laugh on all the people that responded back on such a nonsense thread, but hey this is just my opinion.

I am sure people don't like the baseball talk that goes around but hey its in the right place the pub.

I'm sorry to anyone who doesn't enjoy the playful banter that occurs on this site, but that is what happens in a pub. Makes sense that the pub would host randomness that is found here. As far as advice I haven't had any problems getting answers to questions I had in the midst of all the off topic comments and poop jokes. Not trying to be a punk, but I'm with Sniff, if someone isn't being a jerk I think they should be allowed to do as they please.
