Default map included now

The map is at http://www.socaltrailriders.org/map.htm and has been officially released (although still unfinished).

The issue with Internet Explorer has been resolved!

Please reply to this thread with trails that you would like added or any other suggestions/comments. Address or link to the trail's info would be helpful.

-George

Might be cool to include a link in the white pop-up window with the trail name to some pictures of the trail in the Album Section of this site.

Default I like it.

I also think it would be cool to get a link to some pictures. Would it be difficult to add a link that will show directions? I know that you have most balloons showing the link to the park website, but It would be pretty awesome. It would also set Socaltrailriders.org apart from many other mtb websites out there. Just a thought.

Both great ideas, I'll let you know when that's done!

edit: Might work on it after work tonight. The design and stuff isn't final either.

What info would be useful inside the actual info 'bubble' that come up on the map itself? Just name? Directions too?

Name, with a link to "Directions" and a link to "Pictures". Then maybe a brief description once on the Directions page, i.e., the difficulty of the trail, what to expect when riding there. How many hot chicks ride that trail, etc...

And how many times I've fallen there.

I agree with Dino - Name, link for Directions and Link to Pictures.

So far the directions link is either straight to mapquest or google.

Once this map gets done I might think about seperate pages for each trail, with it's own enlarged map and both links to directions and instructions on how to get to the exact trailhead (although I might need help with those instructions when/if the time comes)

Just finished updating the info in the bubbles, I included the directions link and photos link (if there is a photos link).

Maybe later tonight or tomorrow I'll start adding the trails you guys suggested.

Thanks to all the great feedback, keep it coming!

edit: O ya I forgot. I caught a couple links to directions and such that were wrong or didn't work. Let me know if you find one so it's as accurate as possible.

That would be pretty hard since there are so many variables in which route to take

Exactly what I was thinking. Although . . .

The owner of singletrackmind.com and I have agreed to sort of help each other out. I'll have links on the map page to his corresponding page for that trail. His site has tons of topo maps and gps maps and such that might help. In exchange he'll throw a socaltrailriders.org link or two somewhere on his site.

Bret if you're gonna make posts like that without signing in, don't make it so obvious that it's you
