Category Market place

I'm sure someone suggested this already but would it be possible to sub cat the category market place.

IE:
Parts For sale
Parts wanted
Complete Bikes
Misc Items

i'm just thankful for there even being a classified forum albeit a general one.

Seems to me the categorization will only convolute things.

Maybe more prefaced options? "NBR" for example?

I vote leave it as it is...for now.
There aren't currently enough threads to justify breaking it up yet. Because within many of the threads there are a lot of discussions where other parts are wanted or are for sale - totally unrelated to the initial post, and that's ok, I guess.

There are tons of threads to justify breaking it up. Currently the page only displays 20 line products at each given time (per page).

This includes all the categories in one big mash. So at any given time you may only see 5 items per page of people actually selling stuff, or WTB's

As someone who wants to buy something you dont really want to see WTB posts. Your looking for sellers. and vise versa.

If categorized this would also generate more post.

I'm glad they have that category at all though thats pretty sweet. I know its not a big pain to do once you do it once as everything will just be filtered in the future better to start now then later when you have 10s of thousands of posts.

An incentive for STR is they have Jensons as a forum sponsor, Now you can potentially have multiple thread sponsors in there. Or even googleads on marketplace forums, it would pay for site hosting upgrades etc.

BTW you can set your preferences to display more than 20 posts per page.

But it would be so easy to sort cat, since most most of the threads are tagged. .. i'm tell'n ya man easier to do it now then later....

On the db level it's an easy call you can sort table with phpmyadmin and change categories..

Another vote for leave it as it is.

Maybe when the forum gets big enough in the future, we'll break it up into subcategories. As for now, let it be.

its probably not a high priority for gouge right now. i think we should all be thankful that it is a FREE classified section, with the only requirement to post in it being a very low minimum post count.

you do have a couple valid points and i can see where you are coming from, but is it really that difficult to click a thread that you see a 'For Sale' prefix on and read the title and scroll down the page?

if it did get split, a For Sale and a Wanted should be the only section. Sellers and Buyers, simple enough

Well if your breaking it up in to 2 categories its not really a stretch to add 2 more hahah.
