I'm throwing this one out there.
A handful of co-workers and friends of mine are planning on riding Saturday morning (11/3) around 8-8:30ish A.M. at either Aliso or El Moro. The location/which trail is not set in stone yet (due to some who are not morning folks, have kids, or whatever it is they do on a Saturday morning) but either way a few if not all of us will be there to ride at the above time and date. The pace will be casual. A few of us have not ridden in months so body rust will be visible!! Post or send me a P.M. if interested! |

Sorry, I'll be riding Marshall Canyon then going over to Mt Sac to check out the course for Sunday's race. Then it'll be time to start doing some VQ training. Probably will include tons of climbing.

UPDATE: It's confirmed for El Moro around 7:15ish AM. It's going to be hot that day and it's a long ride hence the early start. We are meeting at the parking lot ($10 bucks to park I believe) pace will be casual. I think I'm the only one in the group that has never ridden this trail so I'm expecting to bust my azz on rattle snake. Good thing I bought pads from Jenson!

rattlesnake isn't bad, speed and some travel helps... the ridge park entrance is free parking btw.

UPDATE: So it looks like there will be two seperate groups at El Moro. Some folks need to ride earlier since they have prior commitments later in the day. If you want to roll with these guys they will be leaving around 7:30. For the rest of us we are leaving a 8:30. Everyone is pretty cool, mellow, chill, etc. No pressure. I will be leaving with the 8:30 crew. Look for us the three of us. Silver Honda Accord, Black Tahoe, Black Yukon.

Do you know which end you're starting from? I might ride into El Moro from Irvine via the 133/Nix tomorrow morning so maybe I can meet up with you guys.

Ride Report: Started around 9AM from Ridge Park since the El Moro entrance was closed (Skeeter, sorry we didn't run into your group). Many of the gates were closed along the PCH side but not along the Laguna Canyon side. Rangers were driving around and warning or citing folks. So was it closed or not closed
The group I was riding with only received a warning. Weather was nice, cool, but heated up around 11AM. My first time on this trail, Ridge Park entrance, parallel to the freeway, single track along the fence line, rode the back stretch, to the top, and back down. |
