Is anyone bringing the non-riding members of their family? My kid's just a little too young to ride, but I thought it might be nice to have her and the wife there afterwards.

What are you all planning?

Pre-rode this area for route that would not be too difficult, but also not too easy so the newbs can get better. This park has lots of climbs. We did 12.4 miles and had a blast, but the route we did today would be something the "A" group will do and then some, probably closer to 20 miles. We will have about the half that distance for the newbs, but will not be doing some of the climbs we did today. So 2 groups will go out, an "A" Group which should be able to maintain a good pace and handle climbs longer than the 3 "B" at Santiago Oaks, Mustard or Meadows. If you can't do those, you should stay with the "B" group. Trust me, they'll still be plenty of climbs for the "B" group to do. This to insure that we get done at reasonable time so we can BBQ. As you know, Stone Brewing CO is closed for a private party so we will BBQ instead. No potluck so bring your on food. This may be the toughest test for the newbs yet, good amount of climbs.

My wife will be there before and after, but won't be going on the ride.

What is the 20 mile route? Only time I've done more than the 12 mile is when Pac led the Daley Double.

Allison posted it on her ride for today. We didn't do it, but here is the geoladders route.

As far as finishing on time, is the concern with the "A" group the pace that will be set? I know there aren't really any undoable climbs at Daley, so I'm thinking pace will be the issue.

Although I'll likely be relegated to the "B" group anyway, if I can even ride at all.

Ben will probably have a good route for the "A" to take. It may be the route we did today which included Cardiac, 3 "B's", Coyote and I believe Bobcat. It was just over 12 miles and it took us just over 2 hrs with regroups. We had 3 begineers with us and they did fine. Had to walk a few sections, but rode alot of it. The route we did today will be too tough for the newbs, so we'll come up with something a little bit easier.

That's the typical Daley route, which I wouldn't mind riding. The "B" group could break at the bottom of Cardiac or the top of Cardiac (avoiding Burnt Mtn, Bobcat, and the climb that follows--the fun stuff, basically )

I'm pretty sure I can't keep up with the "A" group, but skipping all of the fun stuff doesn't sound so great.

Well, Burnt Mtn and Bobcat are pretty fun. The climb that follows Bobcat would probably kill newbs.

...but I haven't exactly been riding a lot lately, so it will probably be ugly. Someone bring the portable oxygen.

Cardiac is what kills me. I'm 0 for 2 so far -- total pushfest.

I think I've done Bobcat. Isn't that the singletrack that cuts accross up after Cardiac?

Last trip out I did what I think was called the Crest trail. That was pretty cool.

Crest claimed two victims and some skin today.

Dood, that's Burnt Mountain after Cardiac, but it leads to Bobcat.

I agree that the clockwise 12mi geoladders route looks to be a "typical" Daley ride. It's what I usually do.

Sladnas' coment to break off a 'B' group at the top of Cardiac to skip the Burnt Mtn/Bobcat loop is a good idea, because, yes, the climb out on Cougar Ridge is non-technical but will wipe out the less fit riders who already were gasping & walking Cardiac. I like to do the whole 12mi thing, but I do have to walk some on Cardiac and the Cougar Ridge climb up from Bobcat. I'm sure you're all including the Rock Ridge singletrack on A & B rides, because it's great.

BJammin posted the Daley map on the first page, but here's the link again for reference...get trail names here and the elevations from the Geoladders page.

Well, that "B" group route is our usual Daley route. BJammin and I have knocked that out in around 90 minutes before. If I'm healthy I might be able to handle it.

Not sure but I think PacMan and I finished in less than 2 hrs last time we rode. I think I will be one of the slowest in the group. As long as we keep moving, I don't see a problem with the regular loop. It would suck to miss bobcat IMHO.

I have never been with a group over 12 so I don't know how long it would take to regroup 46 people or whatever it will be that day.

If you want a group "C" that does the regular 12 loop at newbie pace I can lead that. I might have a couple guys coming that haven't been on bikes in months and never to Daley. So I want to make sure they get the full tour. We could start 30 minutes earlier or something to keep on schedule.

We might want to do that with so many people. Group 'B' starts 30-45 min before group 'A'. Help spread out the traffic a little too...
