Daley and Elfin are really close to Stone Brewery.

Daley is my vote for 5 reasons:
1. Great trail network for a newbie/advanced social ride setting.
2.Close for all to meet (OC and south SD)
3. Close to Stone Brewery
4. Close to Stone Brewery
5. Close to Stone Brewery

Those last three are really good reasons. I don't know if you guys have been there, but even though the food isn't so great, the beer selection cannot be beat. They have vintages. Yes, that's right vintages. Last I was there, I was able to sample the 2003, 2004, and 2006 Verticle Epics. There's a big area outside that would be a great place for the after party.

Why not up here? Say San Juan? Afterall we all would like to see him get his new rig. But I understand it might be a hardship on quite a few SD peeps.

Umm, it's a San Diego social ride.

Since the guest of honor himself voted Daley, I'm thinking Daley will be it.

Any objections??

Our loop is around 13 miles with about 2,000' of climbing. Most of the climbs are gradual and the super steep ones are short and walkable. Plus, being that its a social ride, the pace will be mellow.

There are a few downhill sections that are mildly techy due to ruts and rocks, but again, walkable.

If I can do it, mosts people can do it. It's a bit of a test on the lungs, but it's a lot of fun. Especially, as Mark said, Bobcat. There are a couple of hike-a-bike sections, but not too bad. Also, depending on the number of people, we might be able to do a couple of different level rides.

I'd like to be able to keep everyone together---it would help put the "fun" and "social" in social fun ride.

Let's put it this way--my 11 year old has done it.

Thumbs up Good job, grasshopper

This is great, Doug ... Gene and I were talking about this very subject at the Halloween Ride today. He was going to PM you about where you thought would be a good place to hold a ride. Looks like great minds think alike.

We wanted to do the next Newbie Ride in the San Diego area and combine that with a party for Mark and Jen... and others that have been affected by the recent fires. Sounds like Dailey would be good... lot's of parking and a place to congregate before and after... trails that won't intimidate riders and Stone Brewery nearby (I had their awesome 11th Anniversary brew at the Halloween Ride today)...

And lets don't make this at the crack of dawn, since it's a social ride... give people from OC a chance to get down there at a reasonable hour.

We'd all look forward to doing this.

My wife isn't a bike rider, but I would really like her to be there for the after party (someone has to try to keep me together--I mean drive me home). I'll see if she is working that day/if she can get it off.

Yo Mark, if she wants to throw back a few, I can have my Jen drive you guys home. She's already going to be driving me home!

Ya, the more I think about it, the better it sounds.

--Ample parking
--A trail that is easy enough for a social yet enough climbing and fun singletrack so we won't get bored
--Reasonably close to areas North of SD with easy freeway access
--Close to Stone Brewery for the after ride party

Do I here a LOCK on Daley??

Also, I don't drink so I would be happy to help drive SD peeps home if needed.
