Default Shop Ride hitting Turnbull!! 10-27-07 7am

Yes Dino, we are coming to your "trail"!

This saturday, 7am meet time and Aldo needs to say where we are meeting since I've never been there
Here is the Geoladders link for directions and possible routes:
http://www.geoladders.com/routes.php...h_str=turnbull

Not sure on the route but we have a couple hours so whatever we have time for.
With all the fires this one might be ok for riding....I hope!
I have never been there so I am excited for some new terrain.
Hope to see you there!

Question Meeting Place?

I need to know where the meeting place is and how far away it is. If I get off at 6am, am I gonna have time to meet up with you guys?

If any you others are going later in the morning, let me know.

Crash,

Most folks meet here. Keep heading east on the paved road and the trailhead will be on the left.

But not at 7AM, I'm thinking sometime near 8:30ish.

I'd park closer to the neighborhood than right at the gate by the trailhead. They've had problems with break-ins with cars parked at the gate.

Rolling on 29" dubs!

not sure if i can make it. i usually ride sun am. that will also give it an extra day for the sky to clear up abit.

i would recommend that people park down the streer near the homes. just watch the noise level. nothing more annoying that a mtb'er talking about his new disc brakes

i have seen many (ok, more like 5) car windows smashed at the turnbull trailhead after my rides. though, since it is a weekend, and relatively busy, i would worry less. i think i even had parts off my yakima roof rack jacked at the trailhead

if you see a tall guy on a white 29er ss sat mornin', say hi. if i recognize any of you (or see an str jersey), i will do the same.

have a good ride!

For those not familiar with the area... Park on Beverly just east of the corner of Beverly & Painter. Makes for a good exit point from Friends.

I know the area pretty well and can put together a couple of different loops depending on the time.

Look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow. I drive a silver honda civic, and will be sporting my STR jersey.

Neil.... Turnbull is not my trail---- it is my home!!!

I wish I would have known about the ride sooner- would have shown everyone around! Mt. Dew is also a local. Too bad he is out of town. Truth is there are MULTIPLE ways to ride Turnbull. Loops from 8, 10, 15, 25, 30+ miles depending on how you want to ride it!

I agree with the others- park in front of the houses and ride EAST towards the front gate (located on the left).

The routes you have chosen are pretty good. In my opinion, no trip to Turnbull is complete without riding 7th Street (i.e. the backside) and A-line/Friends/Greenleaf (a fast and flowy singletrack that is my personal favorite).

Notice to beginners: The routes they have chosen will require a bit of climbing.. beginning, middle and end! Just wanted "you" to know!

Enjoy!

I can see Turnbull from my House! Looks much better than it has the past few days.

Two concerns: 1) The air is not perfectly clean (my stuffy nose and lungs can attest to that 2) The San Gabriel Valley is not famous for its clean air. Hopefully, the changes in wind direction will help.

Have fun...
