Default DON'T need a leader for SART 11/3 AM

I'm coming in from NorCal and will be hanging in San Bernardino for the weekend of 11/3. I'd love to do the SART ride that night but I have other plans for the evening. Can anyone lead a ride that morning? I'm a SART virgin. Thanks.

Edit: It's now Wed 10/31 and I was told the forest would almost certainly be closed due to the expected Santa Ana winds this weekend. So no SART ride this weekend for me. Rats!

Sorry! Hubby and I are doing a race the next morning, and will be visiting my mom on 11/3.

Hope you find someone, as it is a great ride.

Default Sart 11/03

Chucko- I would be interested riding SART on that date, I've yet to bust my cherry on that trail also. With that said, we definitely need someone familiar with the loop options out there. Keep me posted if you can.

If the forest is open I am in. I know the area well, also know some of the lesser ridin' stuff out there. Lets see if the Forest Service opens San Bernardino Forest back up.

Yeah, hope they get the Slide fire knocked down quickly, otherwise I'll be doing urban assault in San Berdoo.

San Bernardino National Forest Announces Emergency Forest Closure

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., October 22, 2007— Due to extreme fire activity, and to protect public health and safety, San Bernardino National Forest officials are implementing a forest closure, effective October 23, 2007. The closure prohibits public entry to the forest, with few exceptions, and will last until the extreme conditions subside.

The few exceptions to the closure allow access to the Serrano Campground, the Alpine Pedal Path and the Juniper Point Parking Area. Access to these sites is deemed safe, but visitors must remain vigilant and tend to current fire restrictions, including no smoking or no wood or charcoal fires anywhere on the forest.

Organizations holding special use permits for sanctioned activities within the forest are also exempt from this order, including recreational residences and organizational camps, but occupants must remain within the permit boundaries.

While the closure is in effect, going into or being upon National Forest System lands, roads, or trails within the San Bernardino National Forest is not allowed. The closure will affect the use of all national forest recreational facilities, roads and hiking trails. Violators are subject to fines and/or imprisonment.

County roads and state highways may be affected by fire activity but are not included in this forest closure. Drivers are urged to seek information about closures, be aware of fire activity in the area and to use extreme caution.

For further information about the closure or fires currently burning on the San Bernardino National Forest, contact the Fire Information Center at 909-383-5688.

Default Thanks for info.

ghixon, Let's hope things are open by this coming weekend. Your from Running Springs?, I hope you faired better than most people up there. Some say it goes with the territory of living in the mountians, but nobody should lose their home or worse. Perhaps we'll get a little more rain to help the conditions.

Looks like the Slide fire is mostly contained. I hope the forest is open this weekend!
