Hi there,
Had a couple of questions. I was thinking of heading up to Idylwild to ride tomorrow morning. I have only ridden from Hurkey Creek Camp Ground and basically ridden the Spring Challenge Course. Love that course, but was wondering if there more epic trails around there? If there is can someone lead me to them? Thanks in advance ![]() Paz afuera |

When we went, we rode Ernie Maxwell and Southridge. I'm not too familiar with the area so explaining how to get there is kind of tough

we rode thomas mtn. last weekend which was pretty cool. long fire road climb and a finesse oriented technical descent. the fire road is long and somewhat boring (nice views though)...the top half of the descent is a lot of fun because you can generate some decent speed in some spots. the second half is tight switchbacks and select lines. many of the sections don't allow you to get your speed up much. but overall, still a good ride. we rode it in the rain and still had fun with cold weather and limited traction.
i like kevin (schlepp's) idea of climbing the singletrack up and making the ride an out and back. it would put the ride time near 3 hours but it think it would improve the overall quality of the ride. http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=189

Print up the route directions for the pro/expert spring challenge course from 06. You may have a bit of difficulty (and, I mean a lot) finding the satan's gullet s/t, but it's a great route otherwise.
We rode it a week after the race in 06 and the entrance to that s/t had already been brushed over. Not sure it's all legal, though. Challenging route, though. |
