Default Let faster people by

On climbs/flats/downhill...let faster riders by.

Nothing is worse than getting stuck behind a slow rider on your favorite stretch of single track and they will not let you by. If someone is capable and wasn't to go faster...don't rob them of it. Just let them by. It only takes a second.

I pull off for faster riders a lot. I would hate to be responsible for ruining someones ride.

Default Doing Our Part To Pervert The Trails

This is great, finally, big heads have scrounged up the courage to let people in on “how to ride”. Since I love being instructed on how to behave, I also have some tips for new (and old) riders who can’t think for themselves.

1 )Always wear a full-face helmet and full body armor (yes, on the climbs too). This will help intimidate everyone you encounter on the trails.
2 )Consider purchasing a speaker/boombox system (attached to your bike or pack) so you can let the world know you love Rap-Metal.
3 )If you see some trash on the trail, try to skid on it. (this will help the trash degrade faster).
4 )If you encounter an equestrian, always slow down and ask “why are you post-holing this trail on a 1000pound shit-spewing nervous beast?”
5 )If you summit a peak and find a “trail-register” take a dump in it. This is the ultimate way to let the world know you are a BADASS.
6 )Trail signs are merely suggestions, there is no need to take them seriously. Plus, riding “closed” trails are even more fun than “open” ones!
7 )Life is based on survival of the fittest. If you fall on a rattlesnake, chances are you will get bit and at the least get brutally sick. If you fall into a mountain lion’s den, chances are you will be ripped to shreds. Therefore, don’t worry about spooking “wildlife”. They don’t show you respect, and you shouldn’t either.
8 )Cutting switchbacks is almost always more fun than staying on the trail. It’s also a great opportunity to pass the rider in front of you. (Don’t worry about erosion, these mountains are far stronger than every MTB’r on earth).
9) If you come across another rider who has crashed or is in the middle of fixing a mechanical, laugh your ass off, roost them, and tell them they should “learn how to ride.”
10)Assume every rider is clueless, and make it a point to let them know this fact.

Now get out there and spread the word!

On night rides, if you have a helmet light and climbing, try NOT to look the downhillers in the eyes while they are coming down.

No downhiller likes light dots

Most of the members in my Hummer Club belong to www.TreadLightly.com which is another great website that teaches you about how to properly off-road and keep our trails open.

This may make some mad, but when I see STR stickers on a trail, it is like graffiti and kinda looks bad. We can show our presence by word of mouth.
