Hopefully we can get a decent showing out there from STR!!

These races are very beginner friendly. Great beginner class racers. Southridge/Donny and family run these really well. Everything is organized, communicated, etc.

If you want to try out racing of any kind, this is the place to do it!

I was considering just focusing on DH racing for the season, but decided I'd do both XC and DH.

I think, personally, that it'll be good for me to do XC to get myself ready for the speed and max HR (should be good training, because we aren't at all doing that on endurance days).

So, while I'll be practicing DH Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, it won't be my focus until after VQ.

You could always do beginner XC probably and just do 1 lap. But, I don't think you'll be racing anyone (if that matters).

You could also do SS. If no other women show up you can race lap

It would be MUCH appreciated if those competing included their numbers somewhere in this thread. Individual post? RSVP section? My cameraman Brother would like a bit of "advance notice" when snapping photos. Apparantly, he doesn't like getting yelled at...

Take the picture... Hurry.... Now.... The Green Argyle Jersey..... Turn around!
His head was spinning!

I may go, but i am horribly out of shape and will get killed on the pedaling sections. I'll either be racing sport 16 and under or jr.x, depends if they're running 2 courses. Does anyone know if they are running 2 courses?

Unfortunately, some of us may not know our numbers until practice or race day. I think SRC members can keep the same number from last year if they want. I think I will be choosing a faster number this year. Last year's number seemed too slow.

Typically Sharky walks around during morning practice and writes the #s down.

FWIW, many of us don't have our 2008 #'s yet.

We will Saturday morning, Jan 12!

We won't know until the course is taped off Saturday morning. It's a safe bet any course this season will still have "The Wall."

Marshall- Not to worry! We will get your picture. My Brother knows to take pics of every GREEN bike that zooms down the hill! Good idea on the number change. Last year's number seemed to slow you down in the turns.

Even if one gets their your number on Saturday- post it! If they hand out numbers on SUNDAY, I will do my best finding the numbers of STR members.

Besides, Sharky will have her list!

Keep in mind that if you don't want to actually race, you can still come out Saturday for practice only!!!!

I saw there is officially supposed to be no camping there... Do people still camp out there? Will they allow a truck/RV trailer setup?

I'm thinking about racing DH, but have never raced DH before. I have done a few XC and endurance races. How beginner is beginner? I don't want to be a sandbagger, but I don't want to be out of my league either.
thanks!

If you are curious about camping, just email Donny from the site: http://www.southridgeusa.com He'll let you know the official info.

Regarding racing.. if you have never raced before, go ahead and race in beginner unless you really feel you are faster than most you ride with.

You can always self-bump to Sport next round.

There will always be sandbaggers when there is racing. But, I think the SRC crew tries to bump people when they have won the series.

There will be some beginners that have never raced and aren't in full gear. Others will be good riders in full gear.

It's hard to say. If you've raced XC before, you probably don't want to race beginner. However, the sport class has got some fast guys that may or may not belong there. Perhaps, race sport and know that the guy who wins by five minutes isn't a reflection of your abillity. I've never known there to be a problem setting up an RV, but trust me, you don't want to camp overnight in a park in Fontana.

Yes, people still camp there!!! There are no hookups or anything, but there will be tents, trailers and motorhomes staying for the weekend.

i think donny should make a chainless racing class, it would separate the people who can pedal hard from the people that are fast up top and it would be really fun, I know I would race it.

I'm excited to try out the new Rebel...I keep a list of STR and personal friends in the order they'll come through so I'll make a few extra to pass out. Between all of us we should get some good shots. Can't wait always a blast!!! Come by the Incycle tent.

If you've never watched 4X come out Saturday it's crazy exciting you'll love it.

That's funny, that's what I always say about the Beginner's XC category. Look at the lap times of the beginner's winners. They are always on par with the Sporties.

If you have never raced before, I say try beginners. If you have, race sport. You'll get more laps for your money!
