If you are going to go up Harding why would you meet at Blackstar?

I've done this before. The ride really isn't that bad. Ends being about 40 miles or so. However, when I did it I broke my derialluer on a rock on the last stream crossing at the bottom of HJ. So the ride back to Harding was done with only 3 hardest gears in the back.

Have also done this but started at Maple Springs instead of Harding and did not shuttle it.

"a fan" of shuttling. But I am less a fan of riding that road

This route is just a little different and want to give it a roll

Also HJ should be kind'a quiet on a Sunday (with hikers and bikers) and have not been down HJ for awhile.

I do that ride occasionally. We usually park at Cooks Corner, so we can get a warm up before Harding. The road ride from Trabuco Creek back to Cook's is not that bad. 20 to 30 min depending on pace.
