Default Kernville fat tire fest

There is no Kernville Fat Tire Festival this year. MRA does it and they had a new river permit and a new baby to deal with. Not to mention John was gone most of September. You must be looking at last years ad.

Doh! Its listed as 2007 on the website, they must not have updated it. Oh well. http://www.mtnriver.com/specialevents.htm

Default Are you guys sure its canceled?

If so, there's going to some pissed off people in Kernsville that weekend.
>>> EDIT I think the traditional Festival is cancelled, but there's going to be a "shuttle fest" this weekend? Am I reading this correctly?

DID SOMEONE SAY SHUTTLE FEST!?!?!?

Fat Tire Festival 2007 17 annual KERNVILLE FAT TIRE FESTIVAL
aka Shuttle FEST 2007
in October 2007
The entire month of October 2007 is being dedicated to providing you with great access, by shuttle, to some of our spectacular trails on the Sherman Pass, Alta Sierra, Kern Canyon and surrounding mountain areas. We are taking a small "hiatus" this year from our regular three-day Kernville Fat Tire Festival event and will resume our family-style Festival atmosphere in 2008.
We just need a little break from all of the 2006-07 changes here at MRA (new river permit and new addition to the Stallone family) yet we also want you all to have access to the great trail rides that you've come to expect each year from our Kernville Fat Tire Festival.
Click here to see our 2007 Shuttle Fest trail ride descriptions. And be sure that you have all the necessities for riding trails in our area by reviewing our trail ride checklist.

Why don't you skip all that and make it for the b-day bash. You can do a Chino Hills ride and hang with 40-50 of your closes STR buds.

STR 3rd Birthday Newbie Ride and Celebration

While I'm at it if Jeff (jfsh) is still listening...you should try and make it down too! It would be great to have you be a part of our B-Day celebration!ll

Default Kernville shuttle?

Is anyone going up for Shuttlefest? I'm planning on going up and riding the 20th & 21st. I spoke with someone at MRA and they have room on the shuttle rides both days. Badger gap(38 mlie) on Saturday and Cannell(23 mile) on Sunday. Check the trail descriptions at their site.

Default Kernville Fat Tire Festival

My brother and I are checking this out this weekend http://www.mtnriver.com/fattire.htm
Can anyone provide feedback on the event as well as the trails? I will be riding a Giant AC and was wondering if it was suitable for the trails they have there. Thank you in advance for you comments

Forgive me for doubting you but can you provide a link to a website to support this claim? We've already booked a hotel room so this will determine whether or not we cancel our trip.

You're right, my bad, they've changed the website. The Fat Tire Fest used to be around the 3rd weekend of Oct, but it looks like they're making it a month long event.

Here's the old thread
Anyone going to the Kernville Fat Tire Festival?

Crap, even that thread has the new info. Guess I gotta check back on old threads. It's open so don't change your plans. Oct. is a great time to ride Cannell.

The Fat Tire Festival was just a gathering for a weekend of Mtn Biking (3 days, Fri- Sun). After the rides, Mtn River would provide some entertainment such as a log pull, bike limbo, and last year they had a bike high jump. Saturday night would be a Halloween Costume party and I think you get fed. Not sure about the Shuttle Fest. Oh yeah, the raffle isn't too shabby either.

It looks like the "Shuttle Fest" is nothing more than them saying "come on up and ride."

There is a group getting together in Keyesville on Nov. 2-4.

It's being organized over on mtbrdotcom on the SoCal board.

Thanks..new info noted

Going back to my original question, will my Giant AC be ok for something like the Cannel Plunge or anything else Kernville has to throw at me?

What's the weight/suspension on it?

I rode my Enduro (6" FS) at 31lbs up there. It's a bit to slug around on the climbs (I'm slow and don't climb really well up steep loose stuff).

Much of what is out there isn't entirely DH. There are still climbs.
