Default CANCEL!!!! 12 hour of Temecula Pre-ride

Forgot I am leaving for Moab next week....I need Sunday to pack and organize, perhaps a closer ride this sunday, so sorry!!

Anyone up for a little pre-ride this sunday am?
The course has been changed so I want to hit it a fews times before the race in November.
Meet at the entrance of Vail Lake Resort and then park the cars back by the go-cart course. Trying to start around 7:30am, done by 10:30ish.

Planning to do 2 laps. 1st lap to figure where we are going and the 2nd a bit faster to get a feel for the course.
Hope you can make it!

Thanks Allison... I am booked solid the next few weekends with school projects, homework, a baby shower, and a wedding, so needless to say I can't make it this weekend either! Gotta stay local for most of October.

If there's a map up we could figure it out. It isn't really difficult to stay on the trails out there, but, there are quite a few.

I have already ridden the new course. Start out along the go-kart track on a fireroad headed towards you came out of the roller coaster part at and went UP the rollercoaster. The turn to get to going up the roller coaster is pretty nasty, watch out for people not making it around that turn and up that first hill. Then you pretty much follow the course bakwards to the damn climb except you do a damn descent this time. Near the end of the descent you will see a single track cut off on the left. It is after where the steepest part of the damn climb is if you know what part i am talking about. This is where it gets tough. You can also choose a different line here. One is shorter and steep, but making the turn onto it doesn't flow as good as just following the longer not so steep way so the time for both routes is probably the same. Then you end up at the dam and follow that dirt road along the lake but right before you get to where the previous laps started, you make a right and climb up until you get to the military climb and go down that. Follow the trail around, pass through like 2 trees and you see a HARD right that starts you on a slight up hill in SAND. Rumor has it there will be bridges built over the sand. The sand isn't bad in the begining, but then you end up on just pure sand and it is very hard to ride through. Once you get through the sand you get to the toughest climb on the course. STEEP and sandy in some sections. Once you get up the steep part you ride along the ridge and there are a few steep climbs that range from short to not so short. Then you get to the top where there was a water station on the last race. Think at the top of the hill that had a really steep climb up to it and then the short but steep descent before going up to the roller coaster. Well you go down that short but steep descent and then take the fireroad dwn into the canyon where the tunnel of love is. Make a left U-turn so tat you are headed back uphill on the tunnel of love for a little bit and take the around. That is pretty much the course.

I rode it like 2 weeks ago with some of my buddies and I took my single speed. Great course for the SS I thought except for the steep hill after the sand wash. Most of the climbs are short but sweet so just hammering up them is your best bet. It is going to be hard though, the course really can tire you out.
