Default Chino Hills to Brea and back: 10/6/07 8 AM

The plan is to ride from Chino Hills to Brea (Carbon Canyon Regional Park) and back. The total ride length will be about 25 miles, give or take, and should take around 3 to 4 hours.

The ride will start at 8 am from the trailhead at the corner of Elinvar Dr & Sapphire Rd in Chino Hills. The route will go up the trailhead, over Bain Ridge, up Southridge to 4 Corners. From 4 Corners I would like to go down Telegraph Canyon all the way to Carbon Canyon Regional Park.

Coming back from Brea to 4 Corners we can either go up Southridge or back up Telegraph, either way. The return ride will go from 4 Corners over Raptor Ridge, down Sidewinder and Lower Aliso and back out on Bain Canyon Road.

I have never done this full ride, but I am looking forward to the challenge. If someone who knows the Brea side wants to come, that would be big help. There are several places to stop for water along the way. Bring all the necessities for a long ride.

This is not a newbie ride, but the pace will not be too fast since I am not a hammerhead. Not sure how much elevation gain there is, but I know there is a 2 mile climb up Southridge to 4 Corners. If you are a hammerhead, please feel free to come. I'll catch up with you at the top!

My house is a few hundred yards from the trailhead, so bring your lunch and I will provide the post-ride beers in our yard.

Sounds like a fun ride and a great opportunity for those of us who haven't spent much time on the east side. If my hike to Mt. San Jacinto falls through, I'd like to join you.

I would recommend climbing up Bovinian from 4 corners, and then taking Southridge and Diemer down to Carbon Canyon. Then come back up Telegraph.
It's a little more climbing, but if you bomb the Southridge downhills, your momentum will take care of most of the uphills.

I know what you're thinking - climbing Bovinian isn't that bad!

After riding Bovinian Delight again on Thursday, I agree, climbing Bovinian would not be bad. And it's definitely more interesting than climbing fire roads.

Jose, we can do Northridge down to Brea and come back via Telegraph. I've never ridden Northridge so I would be up for it. Come on Mang!

If we actually start at 8 am, we should be at 4 Corners no later than 9 am. Hope to see you there.

Bovinian's a kick in either direction, but more fun in the uphill, if you ask me. Might just head up there after work today...

Wait, are you talking about going up the 3 bitches on Telegraph Canyon Trail? Oh screw you, you're insane. I've done that once and it is hard to walk, let alone ride.

You mean there's another way up from the Chino side? I've been trying to clean the bitches for a LOOOONG time, finally did it earlier this summer. I think all the CC training I did last year did the trick.

CC training my ass. You must have been using meth and rocket fuel to get up that hill.

You are both talking about different biaaches.... I hear the Chino side has 3 gnarly biaaches that are super steep, loose and even hard to walk up... I believe those are the 3Bs most people are talking about when talking about CHSP

Northridge starting from the carbon canyon side is super steep in places but very doable if you're into pain & suffering for about 4 miles and you're in shape!!! Not sure if the Northridge side is referred to as the 3 biaches though. I've cursed at that trail many of times!! so I'm sure it can take whatever nic-name we give it... LOL

Cool. I was sure I would be doing this by myself. Glad some folks are in for this madness.

Meet on the Chino Hills side. You should get directions from your place to here. The trail head is right there at the corner. I'll be on my red Ibex.

What time do y'all reckon we'll be back at the ranch? I have plans at 4pm in Garbage Grove. Am I safe? Will we make it?

This should not take more than 4 hours max. Probably more like 3 hours, but plan for 4 hours to be safe. We should leave by 8 am and be back at noon by the very latest.

We can move the ride up to 7 am if you guys want. It's all the same to me.
