Mullarks and I have talked about getting a van or a trailblazer for transportation and it would not be that much with three to four people going in on it. If we go with the van or trailbalzer and it has a hitch douse anybody have a spare hitch rack that we could use?

Can we get a count on who still needs/wants to set up carpooling? I still want to carpool and split cost at the Hacienda or camp in the parking lot with someone...

They only take as many until the shuttle is full on the first run for that whole day, whatever that number is. All others are SOL.

No they don't, they will cater to the first group (15) ...drop them off then wait for them at the bottom... then do it all again

That's pretty messed up. I hope this gets cleared up before everyone heads up there.

I rode with the owners of that bike shop last time I went and i guess no matter if a large group of people go up there, to them it's not cost effective on gas and truck rental wise to do the shuttle. If anything I think they loose money from what they told me. So I can understand if they get the smaller truck.

Now in the case that they have one truck and shuttle everyone as they get to the truck at the bottom, whether your the original 15 or not then i can see it being a long wait in between runs.

Do the XC people need to shuttle?

There are a ton of great XC trails there that don't require a shuttle. The road to the top is very mellow. Any car could make it so if someone doesn't make the shuttle as long as he has someone else willing to take turns, they can self shuttle.

You're gonna want to Liz, otherwise you will miss some great riding. We went ahead and climbed a few of the trails up, but found we were having a lot more fun descending this stuff out there. It's not hard to climb back up, but the trails were made for the dh and people tend to get a little perturbed when they find you climbing on a dh trail.

Mike - There are plenty of XC trails there that don't involve climbing up the DH runs.

Check the XC trails on the map in the link.
http://bootlegcanyon.org/

A great route is Mother (starts across from the bathrooms) - loop it around to Caldera (connector not shown on map), up Boyscout to Skyline down to East Leg back to the parking area. I believe it will be about 15 miles and 2500' climbing. All single track with some tech mixed in here and there.

Many other XC loop options.

Correct me if I am wrong... We could possibly have 30 riders, which would be essentially 2 seperate shuttle groups. Even if we are all willing to pay they are only going to run one shuttle with the first fifteen to show up and the second group of fifteen is SOL for the rest of the day??

If this is the case can we use our own vehicles to shuttle??

Default I wont have any XC bikes up there.

I'm taking the F4 DH bike. And my evo and Willie is taking her bike.
What tires work well up Bootleg Canyon?
I need to prep. I have a broken spoke I need to change tonight and a couple of other things.
