If I see it I will PM you, but if its a light item, with the rain it might be gone...

Big thanks to JamR, Foo, and all the others for their work on Cholla.

Default thanks guys

thanks for doing the work on Cholla guys-i would have helped but i had to work until 5 pm. I did climb it after work, though (after i made sure the trails were reopened)-nice work guys. It's nice to see that trail get a little narrower. Aliso trails were in good shape-it's been a long time since they've been damp. i think tomorrow early AM I might hit wilderness/el moro before work.
Next time i'll help with the trail work if I can.

LOL that's funny Jeff...i was going to ask you how you liked the new look of cholla! there's a section that steep that was once covered in dirt that's now exposed sandstone post rain so it's changed the look of the trail.

Ditto what J said. Very nice work guys. Rode my On-One SS up early this morning. Man you guys worked hard as I saw that big mound of brush on the left and the trail was filled in nice.

Also, saw the work on the "run off" channels on Cholla and with the sand bags on the fire road down below between Cholla and Lynx. Hey, I'm learning by looking at what you guys did!

Went down Mathis and there are a couple of big rain ruts now and still a puddle at the bottom around the corner (which I carefully avoided)...

Anyhow, well done and I'll get out soon to pitch in.

L8ters....

PS - Saw two young bucks eating at the base of Rockit. Stopped my bike and we just stared at each other for about 5 minutes. Tottaly quiet. Peaceful. Man are we lucky to still have places like this....

it really is amazing that in the middel of all this urban sprawl you can go to a place like this and stop and not hear things that are related to modern life. incredible.

we didnt do any of the sandbags on the road between cholla and lynx...probably the rangers did that. most of our work concentrated on cholla.

OMR and other volunteers, Thanks for everything. I rode @ Aliso yesterday afternoon and it looked great. I can almost see the trail as a singletrack again with the brush on the side. Actually, I felt like the climb was more challenging in the beginning with the trail being a little more narrow. Forced me to take lines that I usually don't use. Great work guys! I will definately help out next time! See ya on the trails...

;I think that I would have liked it better had I either 1. not been riding so much downhill lately(AKA not pedaling) or 2. had a 32 on the ft of the SS (reads out of shape) I made it but almost lost my lunch on the top... Great trail work

I went out and rode Cholla this afternoon on the single speed... didn't seem any harder... didn't seem any easier either! We still need rain to pack down the soft spots, but I think it will grown in very nicely. There are still areas that need more narrowing... we'll be putting that on the trail schedule. I also talked to Ed (Chief Park Ranger aliso Woods) about the re-routing on a couple of the areas but he said that was not going to happen because of the damage re-routing would do to the protected coastal sage... it's become a more sensitive issue... so the trail will remain as is. However, he is all for trying to narrow it more. I think it will take another 8 - 10 man hours and Mother Nature to accomplish.

Thanks very much to everyone who contributed sweat and blisters to this project. I can't wait to check it out.

Side note: Thanks also if somebody did a little touch-up work on Cactus at Whiting. I rode it this evening, and the square-edged hole at the hairpin turn near the bottom has been smoothed. I don't normally like sanitizing, but that one was causing OTB's (I swear I didn't crash...it was an 'evasive maneuver') and more importantly was making people try to go wide in a pretty tight spot. Not sure if that was manual labor or just the rain plus wear and tear, but either way I'm glad to see it improved.
