Default fresh air

It looks like Palm Desert is the only place to ride where we can breath fresh air.

Default Is the land open?

If the land is open,(isn't this part of the San Berdoo or Cleveland?) I, and a few others are in. Oh boy, fresh air, and some uphill! I have done this in the past by first riding up Dunn Canyon....they call it Dunn Canyon, cause after the climb, your done....then the descent.

I don't think it's national forest land, but good Q.

Not much out there to burn except for sand, rocks, and cacti, though.

Hardtail is fine. cjwally and ShinKen are singlespeeding it. Just make sure you've got some sort of flat protection system and are prepared to be on your bike all day. There aren't any bailouts. With a name like bigringrider I suppose I shouldn't have to worry about that

It's an awesome ride. Looking forward to meeting you out there.

My mom is over in Palm Desert and says it's bad. Smells kinda smokey outside, and she can't see the closest mountains. Sun is orange/red from smoke.

Just as an FYI...

We were talking about heading out there, but seems like it isn't any better there.

Well....This makes me sad. I have the bike all tricked out too!

Just for fun, I will call a local bike shop in the area to see what they say...

Whoa, the smoke is even getting into the central valley. Guess there is no mtn biking for me this weekend. I'll be working on the house (which it needs badly) for once instead of riding. For those of you lucky enough to get out of town, Have a great ride!

I may punk out too depending on the forecast. If it's going to be smoky out there I can't go. I know I'm a girlie man but my lungs are sensitive to smog, etc. (really). If it's bad I'll be stuck out in the middle of nowhere not able to breathe. I'll make the call late this afternoon. If the forecast is good I'm there. I've been waiting a long time to ride this again and I won't bail unless I absolutely have to.
