Default Mount Lowe/Gabrielino trail loop?

Anyone up for a ride Sunday? This is my first ride post on STR. What i was thinking is park at JPL lot, ride up the Mt. Lowe fireroad, drop down to Red box and from there hit Gabrielino to Switzer and the Arroyo seco all the way out back to cars. I have done this ride many times and it's a good long loop, about 25 miles I believe. Ride start time a 8:00am in the JPL lot.

My schedule is jammed this weekend so I can't make it on Sunday.

But if you ever want to do this ride on a Friday, let me know. With some advance warning, I can get away. I'm slow, but have decent stamina. If you're OK waiting a bit, I'll give it a shot. I've done Brown/Ken Burton/Arroyo several times.

EMrider, sorry about getting back to you so late. But Friday's wouldn't work for me, it would have to be a weekend thing for me to head out that way. Perhaps catch you on another ride sometime.

Are you talking about strawberry peak to red box.
I didn't know you could get to red box from Mt. Lowe .
I assume the mt. lowe fireroad is the one that forks off at Brown mtn? But then I don't know how you get to red box from there.

You could continue up the fireroad to the tunnel then hit Red Box road, take that down to the trailhead.

Default Count me in too!(future rides)

I'll try to be more specific about rides date next time, But stoked to see responses to my ride post. I'm not riding this coming weekend 29 or 30th. I'll keep a look out for future rides. I'm still breaking in the new bike and it needs a few epics under it's seat still.

To clarify, from the JPL lot you wish to head up (what we call in that area the Frontside) Mt Lowe to Red Box... I shall assume that from JPL you would road ride it to the split/gate above Mellard Campground and head up Cheney Trail to the Mt. Wilson Road, take that back to the the trail head of Red Box? The other variation would be to leave the JPL lot and take the Brown Mt. fire road up and over to Mellard, and then up Cheney from there?

I'm looking at doing trail maintenance on Gabrielino Saturday, I'm to post this next to get any others. If I'm not wiped from that I'll meet up at 8am at the lot.

Default Not the 30th.

Apexman
Pardon my non specific last minute post, but that was for Sunday the 23rd not this Sunday the 30th. So I don't know if you had plans to meet other riders at 8 am this coming Sunday, But i won't be there. I would hate to leave a rider hanging at the trailhead for a no-show. Next time perhaps as I do plan on getting out that way.
