Aqua, although a cool guy, is not the reason I ride Noble. Besides, he's so far ahead of me I rarely see him anyway.

jonsocal [10-15-2007 11:41 AM] - I can't wait to see PacMan leave his keys (for his delicious lunch which is locked in his truck at the top) in someone else's car at the bottom again!.

Actually, we parked my buddy's car at the top with lunch and water and he left his keys in my car at the bottom. I was the innocent victim in that situation and I have rights d@mn it!!! How dare you blame me.

UPDATE:

We're riding at 7:45 AM!! I know it's early, but it should ensure that we all get the full tour in.

Don't forget your adventure passes, extra tubes/tools, and plenty of food and water!

I bring knee and elbow pads, but they aren't necessary.

Post-ride food at Manana's in Alpine.

there will be a group that climbs up the road in an effort to try to shave some time off climbing up. we will have one leader taking people up the road. i think i will be leading the group up extra credit. we will all regroup at the big oak tree...
cool, Denny's is open 24hrs for b-fast.
i'll need the all you can drink coffee.

if there are any people that don't want to start the ride with a technical climb, they can go up the road. nobody will be "forced" to take either route. historically i have been pretty hard on those "bailing out" on Extra Credit, but anyone wishing to ride the road can do so with me.

on the downside, as allison has pointed out, anyone taking the road will miss out on a short but fabulous descent called Whore. it is one of allison's favorite sections of the trail.
You mean at the end of the ride bail out correct?

I will attempt to lead from the back of the group... but, I think whoever is up front can do okay.

We'll just regroup at the top of Whore so I can get some photos on the way down, eh?

Also, we'll do headcounts for both groups.

FWIW, it is rough climbing up the rocks right out of the gun, but the really rocky part only lasts about .33mi and then it's fairly do-able climbing. The Whore descent is swoopy, flowy, fast... and non-technical

We will ALL meet up at the big oak tree. Those that get up there first can ride around to stay warm!

My guess from the list of riders is most likely Andy, Craig, Craig, you.. anyone up in front is fine. As long as each rider hangs out to make sure the rider behind him/her makes that left hander.

After that we'll all regroup at the bottom of whore and climb up the pavement. Then it'll be a big spread out group from there.

No one will get dropped or left behind either way.

who wants to meet up for breakfast?

seriously though, if anyone wants to meet up for I-hop or whatever I'd be up for it. With a ride of this measure, the more fuel in your body the better you'll rail down Stairway to Hell!

I might be up for that, but I think Denmother and Roger might be with me, so I can't speak for them quite yet.

Also trying to shake this crappy sore throat.

Thanks for lending me the light!!

B--I may be coming from Fallbrook and not Ramona. I am in for some IHOP/Denny's action if I do.

!!! That was a good one. I'm on the fence for this one. If I go, I'll still have my butt handed to me on those uphills. But.......I need revisit that gate.

Dan, you'll be doing this even if I have to drive my POS truck all the way to HB and drag you out of bed!
You may have to. I'm really gonna need some motivation to get my butt kicked again that hard!

So, I assume if I show up, there's only 1 group? I usually use radios to keep in touch with the back or the front, and meet at the top. It's been awhile since I've done Noble, but isn't the uphill a bunch of fire road with Champagne Pass thrown in? Do you ride the witches broom on top or something else? I don't mind waiting around, but would like to know how much re-grouping takes place. If I'm waiting around, I may be forced to call a team meeting, and adjust everyone's attitude! As Bob Marley would say - "Jammin, don't you like jammin' too? Really, it's my fast twitch muscles.....gotta keep 'em warm. Besides I need to be back by 4:20.
