I am spending thanksgiving in San Francisco this year. I am considering bringing my bike up and hitting some trails as I drive back south. I was thinking about heading south via Highway 1, i just don't know any of the trails in that area and was wondering if someone could tell me some good ones. My sister is thinking about joining me, she is in good shape, rides a rode bike frequently, but not on the mountain bike much. I would appreciate suggestions on both more difficult as well as some beginner trails.
Thanks |

You may get some answer's here, but there is a wealth of information on Nor Cal trails on emptybeer's Nor Cal forum. You may even get a few people to offer to play tour guide!
I've never ridden up there, though. Would like to some day. |

Annadell in Santa Rosa. Hour drive but worth it.
If you don't have time. China Camp in San Rafael. Tamarancho in Marin. Or the old standby ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and ride Marin Headlands with a little Mt. Tam thrown in. ![]()

There are mountainbiking trails in Montana De Oro state park just south of Moro bay. I've never ridden them but have always wanted to.

My wife liked the more leisurely paced trails on the ocean side of the access road, and I returned later for a more vigorous ride on the mountain side trails. Both were quite enjoyable, and the scenery was just outstanding. A search of this site will turn up at least a couple RR's, and some nice pics. as well. Good luck, and have a great trip! |

Moro Bay is on the central coast, about 3-4 hours south of SF. I've riden them a few times. The trails are pretty good, but the views are absolutely spectacular. You should check them out some time.
