Default Saturday Morning Wood Canyon Coffee Social/Ride

Hi STR Family. Since we had such a great turn out this past Saturday and since my friends and I ride Wood Canyon just about every Saturday, I thought why not make this into a nice casual group ride similar to Fully Loop.

Where and When: Meet at Canyon View Park aka "MILF" Park and be ready to roll out by 8:00AM (during Daylight Savings aka winter) and 7:00AM (during Spring/Summer). Rides usually lasts approximately 2 hrs so you'll have the rest of the day to spend w/ the family or do the things you've been putting off.

Typical course will go: Up Cholla, to Top of the World down Meadows and back the fireroad or for the adventurous Coyote. But if the group wants to do something else or a variation on the ride we can decide that morning.

Just remember, rains will obviously cancel the event.

Ride with friends and critters

Love to.
Does it really have to be a 7:15 start?
Ouch. Me like sleep.

good ride today guys... got started a little late, but caught up with the group on the last climb to T.O.W. Donny did a crazy 180 swing around a tree on the little chute coming in from the neighborhood. pretty uneventful going down meadows, but ran into Madre and Padre (eric & leslie) along coyote.. they were coming down rock it and climbing back up it. all in all good ride fellas, kept a good pace from what i could tell. I believe it was Sam's first ride at aliso as well! Also spotted two trail angel's doing a road ride, said hello at the intersection went off to work.

Cool ride guys. Thanks for breaking me in. This was my first official STR ride. I did Fully once with parts of STR, but couldn't stick around with such a big group, so that didn't count.
I hope to do Aliso a few more times this year. Good idea, Duan.
BTW, Bandman (Sam) and I hit up some Palos Verdes trails afterwards. I guess the ride energized me, because I never do 2 rides in one day!!!

Excellent ride again - yah, that 180 bar-end pivot was real weird - ended up facing up the hill still clipped in and upright. Thought I was going down hard for sure. Lets hear it for flexible foliage! Wish there was video on that one! Thanks to all that went along - and will see those that are doing Whiting tomorrow.

Great riding with everyone today. There's a lot to do there so even though it was my first it's not going to be my last. Jay and I went to Palos Verdes right after and had another blast, met some guys there taking huge air at the jumps. Two rides in one day, boy do my legs feel like rubber. Can't wait to ride Whiting tomorrow on the SS 29er....UGH!!!

Foofighter,

Too bad we missed your ride. It sounds like it was a great ride once more. Julia and I hope to be back out there w/you soon.

Some of her soccer games start later in the day.

Julia asked about your ride this morning.

She's been telling people she wants to quit soccer. Kid thinks it's getting in the way of her mountain biking. Hopefully she changed her mind today. She made her first goal of the season. It was from a distance and over everyone's heads. It's too bad I wasn't video taping.

That's because she started out playing angry because she couldn't make the ride.

She said I didn't even know I made that goal. When she started getting high fives - she realized she did something.

Hopefully all the kudos from everyone changed her mind from quiting soccer.

See you tomorrow.

-Elvia

[SIZE=4][SIZE=2]Congrats, Julia! Good to see the girl's get her head on straight though, putting mtb before soccer

Bummed to have missed a fun Aliso ride, but had other plans this morning. I will def come out if this is a regular thing. Next week maybe? Meadows and most of the west ridge would probably be a lot nicer if we really do get a little rain like they're talking about for Thurs/Fri.

I agree - meadows is a bit bumpy and chopped up - are there any times when the group/anybody goes out there and does some trail repair/maintenance? Or are we supposed to leave things be? I'd be up for helping out in any way. Thanks!

Thanks again Duan for keeping this ride going. Also the pics you post are always a welcome sight - actual proof that I'm attempting a social life and getting my butt in shape at the same time. Big Ups to ya!

Yah - but did you notice the rabbit gasping for air at the top of the hill? First to the top gets to hide his pain for a while - Ha! See you tomorrow at Whiting, right? And next Sat for Aliso again.
