Hey Gene, since you usually run sweep I wanted to offer you the opportunity to drop the hammer on this ride. Either me or one of the others can take care of the rear guard if you want to get your speed on.

I don't know Chris... half the fun of these type rides is helping young grasshoppers push themselves and ride beyond their comfort zones. Who could ever forget Traci's triumph in making it to Beek's Place? that's why Gene & I like to ride at the back... but really appreciate the offer!

Hey Neccros,

I am a fat F (230lb) and my first ride was Aliso, talk about getting thrown out to the wolves! The first time I rode I barley made it to the base of Cholla without the use of a diflbulator. I only made it half way up Cholla and that was enough. I surround myself with cool great riders and since I don't want to slow them down that much I really push myself. I have noticed that just getting out on your own even if your solo and turning the cranks will help. I ride just to ride and have fun, the groups here are so cool and I think their are sub groups in these big rides that ride together at their own pace. This is good and makes everybody feel better. OK I rambling now and I don't know what the hell I am talking about. Peace out!

Default Brian - I need you!

Brian -
Have you looked at the people that have said yes? They all are really cool, and not hammer heads...(Well except for 1x1clyde - but Gene & Greg will take care of him for us) This is not going to be like Beek's we will not be an hr behind everyone. I promise..I did this last week.

The great thing is.....I actually know the route this time and can help us decide when to use our energy. If I had not been attacked by a cactus I would have finished with the slower group, but a group no less.

Like Lee said, I like the back---less dust....no pressure and more social (that's what I say now).

I will not lie to you, by the end of the ride I was just praying for it to over, it got hot and we went up at a very slow pace for about the last 5 miles.(not like Beek's very minimal you can barely tell) ..And the road we were on was sandy (plus my tires kept going flat). But again, with the help of Gene and Chris I did it...And this time when they said just up a little bit more they weren't lying...

Brian - What I'm trying to say is this...I will be very sad if you don't make it! This group is smaller and not as many non-newbies have signed up..This ride will have more than just you or I that will need sweepers (I hope).

Now lets stop all this worrying and get out and ride our bikes! Because the only way you, me or any other DFL'ers will ever get to move from DFL is to keep riding our bikes.....

See you Monday!

We all love you & want you to be around to enjoy your kids as the grown up... smoking is not the way to make this happen! Seriously, you need to make a commitment for them.

Surlygurl,

I am going to be there and I always say the back is the best place to be.
  • No one see's you fall
  • You get to see all the falls ahead of you
  • You get to see if the guy ahead of you can make the jump - then you now if you need to get off the bike
  • You get to know the good bad mountain bikers because they are waiting for you
  • The people ahead of you learn before you if there is a problem on the trail
  • Too many benefits to list
Besides what's the hurry?

Also it's too hot outside at this time to ride fast or hard. Enjoy the view and lets check out the snacks in our packs. I hear sharing is good.

I'll be behind you because I am always behind everybody and I don't have a problem with my riding.

Good that you know the trail you and I will have a great time and I am sure alot of laughing will be going on.

Off course as the weather cools we will push ourselves. I am just not sure why?

-Elvia

Good points Elvia - Also, you don't get run over in the back and who cares if it's a little dusty? We're there to get dirty anyways
