Default Goin up Rock-it tonight- anyone interested?

Cleaned it for the first time last week and it felt great. Well, it felt like I was going to die actually but near death experiences can sure motivate! It's my buddies turn now. He's almost got it. We'll be going up around 6 or 6:30. If anyone wants to go we'll be at the bottom of Rock-it between 6:30and 6:45 or maybe earlier. Let me know and we'll wait otherwise...

You are going up the middle through the rock garden right? Will probably be at El Moro. Good job cleaning it!

the last few times I've been going up rock-it, I've always ran into guys coming down who gave me dirty looks.

To bad for them! Just be carefull. I have done it with a big group on Sunday before and people get annoyed. Share the trail people!

I used to be one of those guys. I thought Rock-it was for going down only. I love going down as much as anyone but after a while you have to challenge yourself. It's awesome going up. And yes, tonight I"m going for all rock garden. No cheating. I'll find that line if it kills me!

Rock-It is one of my favorite descents, but it's also a great challenege to climb (I haven't even come close to cleaning it yet). IF I'm coming down, I not only yield to climbers, but I usually stop and give them some words of encouragement. Same on Meadows. How can you get pissed at somebody who's pulling off something that 99% of the people out there can't do?

Not really a line, just find a flow and keep the hammer down and you'll clean it.

So we went out and I let my buddy go up the left and he made it. My goal was to find a line up the rock garden and I can tell you that I didn't see one (like genusmtbkr says). It looks to me like a power play right at the front door there and then you could weave your way back and forth. But, at that angle of decent, my skinny little legs won't have much left after hammering over those baby heads for the first 10 yards or so. The rock garden just looks brutal from the beginning and I stopped in the middle looking for any line around an it ain't there!

Gene's right... there really isn't a good line up the middle or right side... you just have to power up certain sections... keep at it as it will increase your bike handling skills considerably.

Instead of trying to do the entire section.. pick out a couple of smaller sections and work and rework them. All of a sudden you'll start to gain confidence and clear the entire rock garden. Keep at it until you do. I think you'll surprise yourself.
