Default San Diego riders: Ride tomorrow?

8am is too early for me though it's the perfect time to avoid this damn heat we've been having.

Doug, you still interested in a run at PQ? Anyone else?

I get off work at 5 (I work in Poway) and I'm 10 min from PQ. I'd be up for an evening ride also.

Do you park in the $3 county lot?

PQ works for me...I'll be a little pressed at a 5-5:15p ride, but I'll make it work. Where do you guys usually park?

Every time I have ridin there it was at nite and we parked at the lot off of Carmel Country road. But, I have heard that i would be able to ride there from my shop. (Poway rd. and Pomerado.) Otherwise I think we could park here:

East end of the Canyon: For the east end, take I-15 to Mercy Rd. Go west on Mercy Rd, to Black Mountain Rd. Turn right on Black Mountain Rd. You will see an entrance to the county park on the West side of the road. The county park charges for entrance, whereas the city park on the other side of the bridge does not. Continue over the bridge and enter the park on the left. Look for the signs to the Los Penasquitos Ranch House.

Hm. Well, I can't ride passed sundown 'cause I don't have a light. We'd probably have to get outta there around 7 or so to not get locked in. I'm down to try out that other parking lot though.

If we meet at 5PM, we should be able to finish way before dark.

Sounds good to me. After my morning ride I'm not going to want to be out to late anyway. Give me a call in the afternoon and we can work the details out.

Hey guys- bring plenty 'o water. I rode Sweetwater with some people from MTBR this morning, and I think i came the closest I've ever been to heat stroke, and the resulting helicopter transport. We climbed up a relatively long hill and stopped to talk to some other riders. As i was catching my breadth, things started to spin, nasua, stars, the whole deal. I sat down underneath a bush, pounded some water, a gatorade and a cliff shot. After about 15 minutes i cooled down and it passed, but i think it was a close call (i finished the ride though). Can't wait till the summers over.

Dang. It should be cooled off a bit once we start riding, but water is always good advice.

I went to go climb Bernardo yesterday but once I got to the base I decided against it. With temperatures at home around 91, it was probably about 95 at Hodges, and most of the climb is shielded from wind...no thanks. Took a leisure stroll around the lake instead and was greeted by lots of cool breeze.

Bernardo will see me another day.

According to The Weather Channel's site http://www.weather.com/weather/hourb...nav_undeclared temps at 5PM when we start will be at 83 cooling down to 78 by the time we're done. We'll be fine.

Great ride this am and pm. Hot as hell at Daley. Got in about 18 mi before the heat melted the tires off my rims. Went to work and put new tires on, then after work, headed over to PQ for some evening fun with Pac, Sandals, Franky, and Dylan the ripper.
...nice huckfest...

Great ride fo' sho'. Thanks to Ben, Mark and Franky for making it out. Thanks too for the encouragement and support for my 11 year old prodigy!!

Extra extra thanks to Franky for riding with Dylan through the bush trail and down Cobbles. It's great when someone offers to hang with him--gives me a chance to open up the throttle for a bit.

The side trip to Hooterville was my favorite part of the ride. RR to come soon (tomorrow).

Yep, that was definitely a LOT of fun, and we should plan to do that some more. It was down right huckalicious.

Pac, your son is awesome man. Straight up rock star out there hanging with us the whole time! High fives...

Ben/Franky, nice meeting you both and I look forward to more rides!

Finally--Pac, what is my nick name? I forgot...I need to get that down in my signature (if it fits )

Ya, he's pretty good for an 80, excuse me 90 pound 11 year old on a 30+ pound all mountain bike. I'll be sure to pass on the compliment
