Default Los Penasquitos Sunday 8/19????

Just throwing out the feelers here:

I may not be able to make Big Bear this weekend. If I don't go, is anyone up for Los Penasquitos in the afternoon? I could show you around "all" the good stuff.

b5driver?? Evil Chocula?? sdyeti??

Unhappy

I was planning on going to the Del Mar Race Track since I have my son and the wife works but... Let me know what time and if his Auntie can watch him I'll go.

In my own backyard, and I'm going to miss it. I'm out of town from Saturday thru Wed. I would be up for something similar (PQ, Hodges, MT) the following weekend.

You guys are killin' me

My main issue is being gone all day Saturday at SART and then being gone all day Sunday--no family time. It's not that I don't want to go, it's that it may not sit well with the wife.

Of course, this will probably be my only shot until next year

I'm 90% sure I'll be there for BB.

I know it's $$, but you could always just ride from like 9-1 or something then head home a bit early. Still doesn't give you a lot of time, I guess.

Tell her it's time for a bike

The real reason I'm hedging is I'm afraid of getting injured in the Nam vs. Pac man Huck Off Extravaganza!!!!!!!!

Just had a couple of questions for Los Penasquitos. I'm new to California so i don't know the area. Where is this trail located? How long of a ride is it? Does a new guy have a chance of keeping up? What kind of bike is appropriate?

True... SART isn't that far away. Could see if you could rent a cabin or something. The fam could do some scenic hiking up there on the hill while you get a few rides in. You can take a break and lunch with them, etc.

The trail is located in West if I-15 freeway. Exit Mercy road and go Left. You can follow that to the Preserve parking lot which charges $2 for parking. Or at the last light before going into the Preserve parking lot you can turn right and make the first Left into the Community Park. Follow that road all the way back to the baseball fields and park. You will see other riders there most days.

The south side of the preserve is tame fireroad which is great for any type of rider on any type of bike. The north side is fireroad with some singletrack. Check out MTBBill's website for all the local trails here. Its a great local trail that is good for beginners and novice. You can add some difficulty to it by taking various routes and climbs. If you ride around the stream its about ~20 mi with some fun climbs and downhill action.

If Sunday pan out I will be there Monday around 3 PM if you want a tour.

It would appear that I've been "peer pressured" into BB.
