Default Newbie Ride O'Neill Park's Tijeras Creek/Arroyo Trabuco Loop

Ok, time to get your feet wet with some single track and stream crossings! I mean literally. This ride has fun single tracks and has stream crossings sure to soak your feet. This is a very fun trail that is a nice mellow ride through O'Neill Park.

The ride starts out in O'Neill. We will do a short single track climb to the trail above the park, then we will turn onto Antonio Pkwy to Tijeras Creek trail where we will climb again and ride along the ridge, continue along the ridge till we get to some rolling single track. Out onto Oso Pkwy and connect to the Waterwork Single track trail, head back on Arroyo Trabuco Through the Jungle single track and back to O'Neill Park. There are only few short climbs that is no more difficult than those on the Fully Loop. Ride distance is about 17 miles.

When: Sept 25, meet @ 8am, Ride @ 8:30
Where: O'Neill Park's TijerasCreek, Waterworks, Arroyo/Trabuco Trails
Staging: O'Neill Park Day use area, where the Warriors Society hold the award ceremonies for the CC/VQ, Traverse, Toad Festivals

I will have Sodas, water & other "beverages" for after the ride. There are grills at the park if you want to bring things to BBQ. We can do a potluck if it makes thing easier.

Here is 1 variation of the loop:

Here's another variation:
http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=4571

Here's the link to the location:

From 5 Fwy - exit at El Toro Road, head north towards mountains (Lake Forest), make right on Live Oak Canyon Road (Cooks Corner) and we are on the right hand side 3 miles up the road.

From North OC - Take the 55 fwy, get off Chapman Ave, head south towards mountains and continue on Chapman, it will turn into Santiago Canyon Road. Stay on Santiago Canyon Road for about 12 miles, make a left on Live Oak Canyon Road (Cooks Corner), we are on the right hand side 3 miles up the road.

We will leave no one behind! Hope to you all out there

*Meet at O'Neill Park at 8am. We will start the ride at 8:30.
*Parking is $5.00 on weekends at O'Neill.
*No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park

This is a great ride if you are looking to buff up your bike handling skills for newbs. You have singletrack, fireroads, small climbs, technical sections, loose rock gardens, about 6 water crossings which all but 1 are rideable and it sounds like Gene will have us riding by the BMX course so maybe some huckers in the group can show us wassup.

Thanks for finally posting this up Gene I think everyone will have a great time.

Your bike should be fine, I do have a 18" XC Diamondback you could use.

I'm going to try and make it, but Jason is hurt. He'll probably post something about it soon. He hurt his shoulder on a jump at Del Cerro and will be out for a while

Heal quick bro. CC went down too. Has the curse of SJ gone beyond the Fully Loop?

Yeah talked to CC today. Sounds like Big Bear wasn't nice to her. Good thing she was wearing a helmet

Yes, there's a bmx stunt area complete with gaps like in X games. We will be going by there.
