The phrase "ride it like you stole it" comes to mind right now...

The Tijeras Creek loop is one of my all time favorites. I wouldn't call this a beginner ride though by any means. It's definitely not beginner level due to all the stream crossings and overall length of the ride. If I wasn't leading a true beginner ride at the same time (Slow-paced MTB ride to the Sinks in Limestone Canyon), I'd be joining you all.

Here's a few variations - all start at the Cox Sports Park:

The loop clockwise.

Ladera Loop:

Ladera Grand Loop (includes the Chiquita trail):

The pace of the ride will be slow and they can alwys walk it through the steams. Ride through it or walk it, your feet get soaked either way . Hope your ride goes well.

This is one of my favorite rides since I started riding offroad last year. I think this is a much easier ride for newbs than last weeks Santiago Oaks ride as the climbs are no where near as brutal as the 3 B's, the technical sections are nothing like the ledges at SO, and overall it is just a fun ride with lots of variety. It sounds like Gene will take us through the Water District singletracks, a real fun, fast roller. (Ask me about the unique wildlife I saw there last month, I'm glad she wasn't my daughter. ).
Those who have never done it will be surprised at how remote it feels when riding down in the bottom of Trabuco Creek, and there is even a monument down there marking where the Portola Expedition camped in 1776.
Since alcohol is not permitted in Oneil Park, Cooks Corner is just a few miles up the road. We can put on our Harleyween costumes and fit right in.

This was one of the first rides that I did, and my fave for a long time (til I could hike a good climb).

Edit: is this a dress up ride? THAT would be fun! Perfect for that pirate ride Andy told tales of I promise to skip the arseless chaps (THAT'S not pirate--arrrrrrrgh!)

That would of been fun for sure. When the weather cools, the next newbie ride will be dress up.

You see some along the way but I have never had a problem staying out of it. I can only recall one section where I have found some and ofcourse thats right where Gene wanted to stop and take our pictures
