The Tijeras Creek loop is one of my all time favorites. I wouldn't call this a beginner ride though by any means. It's definitely not beginner level due to all the stream crossings and overall length of the ride. If I wasn't leading a true beginner ride at the same time (Slow-paced MTB ride to the Sinks in Limestone Canyon), I'd be joining you all.
Here's a few variations - all start at the Cox Sports Park: The loop clockwise. http://www.3fbc.com/trails/index.cfm...ls&id_trail=78 Ladera Loop: http://www.3fbc.com/trails/index.cfm...ls&id_trail=93 Ladera Grand Loop (includes the Chiquita trail): http://www.3fbc.com/trails/index.cfm...ls&id_trail=94 |

Its a turn off you and I havent done. I have done it with some others but I dont think Gene is taking us through there for this ride. When you come to this ride I can show you where the turn off is.

This is one of my favorite rides since I started riding offroad last year. I think this is a much easier ride for newbs than last weeks Santiago Oaks ride as the climbs are no where near as brutal as the 3 B's, the technical sections are nothing like the ledges at SO, and overall it is just a fun ride with lots of variety. It sounds like Gene will take us through the Water District singletracks, a real fun, fast roller. (Ask me about the unique wildlife I saw there last month, I'm glad she wasn't my daughter. )
. Those who have never done it will be surprised at how remote it feels when riding down in the bottom of Trabuco Creek, and there is even a monument down there marking where the Portola Expedition camped in 1776. Since alcohol is not permitted in Oneil Park, Cooks Corner is just a few miles up the road. We can put on our Harleyween costumes and fit right in. ![]() |

This was one of the first rides that I did, and my fave for a long time (til I could hike a good climb).
Edit: is this a dress up ride? THAT would be fun! Perfect for that pirate ride Andy told tales of I promise to skip the arseless chaps (THAT'S not pirate--arrrrrrrgh!)
