Default Lake Hodges--South side

My buddy and I are going to hit up the south side of Lake Hodges Friday afternoon (8/17) around 3PM. I have only ridden there once and didn't get the chance to explore near as much as I wanted to. I'll be SS'ing so the pace will be moderate.

Directions: Off I-15, exit Pomerado Rd (just south of the North County Fair/Via Rancho Pkwy) and head west. Park in the dirt lot about 100 yards down on the right.

For an idea (it won't be green at all like in Bill's pics):

If you want to make it a tiny bit more interesting you could start at the trailhead by my place. It would add on to the South section very nicely and adds a few hills and stuff on the way...nothing too crazy. Maybe an additional 2-3 miles max (each way). It connects up with the park and all the other trail systems. 3PM is a great time to hit it up since there won't be many joggers or dog walkers.

Here is a map of the starting location. You can see the singletrack just to the right of the arrow. There is lots of parking on the street at the trail head.

I'll talk to my bud to see what he wants to do. The south side is basically just as much fun as the north and I have only ridden it once, so it's pretty new to me still.

If you are familiar with it, you can play tour guide

Hey Doug, follow this link from ego-ladders. It has all the good trails on the south side.

Cool--thanks.

It hurts but not too bad, just a subtle reminder of my own stupidity.

Red face

I think they still have the bike path open over the bridge. Want to add that singletrack on the East side of the freeway to the ride since your SS'ing it to add a few more miles?

Sure, me and my SS go everywhere together

22 miles and 1,600' on my SS last Sunday. May not be a lot for some but it was for me.

I don't think he meant as far as Raptor. Just the trail that parallels Highland Valley Rd. Rolling singletrack, not many rocks, pretty tame--perfect for someone new to SS'ing.
