Default North San Diego, South OC: La Costa Trails, after work Thursday 8/16

6:00 Thursday 8/16

Where: Meet and park at the corner of

Camino Junipero & Corte Romero, Carlsbad, CA 92009

You can also cut and paste the above to Google Maps.
I think the distance from San Clemente is about 45 minutes, if any OC'ers want to check the ride out. The trail consists of two primary runs; one is built with fast, technical rock features, the other is smooth, singletrack switchbacks. I plan on hitting the Technical one first, but less adventorous riders can take the alternative and meet at the bottom... it would be very hard to get lost. I'll be wearing elbow pads, but I'm kind of wimp, so you decide.

I'll be driving a silver Honda Civic with Yakima racks, and I'll PM my cell before the ride. Cheers!

So, very true. I don't get as much sleep at night either, what with friggin being up until after 11PM reading all these dumb posts like some sort of Crack addict looking for a fix.

If you park at the intersection I posted above, you just ride up the side street to the gate/fireroad on your right. Follow the fire road up past the water tower until you see a pile of rocks on left, you'll see the sign pictured above on your right. The trail branching left is the scary/technical one, the one to the right is smooth, flowey option. I'd say the total mileage is around five miles (I don't sport a computer).

You can also check the satellite image of the intersection above on Google Maps; you can clearly see the fire road, water tower.. the squigly line is trail #2, which I believe is called "NASCAR" by some.

AND: One a scale on of 1-10, I'd say #1 is a 7 and #2 is a 3, if you take the cheater lines. That rating system is very subjective though, as a reference, I'd say Hodges or El Morro is a 2, and Noble Canyon is an 8.

Was anyone there today? Bjammin: I looked all over for you.

I ended riding with *gasp* some non-website affiliated guys... that's right, not MTBR, STR.. nothing. They were completly off the grid.

And they showed me a sick new trail

I ended up doing about 65 miles on the 'cross bike today...damn near killed me but still worth the effort. I needed to map out a doable commute from O'side to Poway when I ride to work on Sundays.
