Default RR: Tahoe...Spooner to Kingsberry

Couple of pics of the girls from todays ride.

I will be singlespeeding the next couple of days as I washed out in a sandy section and destroyed the front rim on my Niner. Major taco...a few hits on the the trial and standing on the rim I got it good enough to ride out...bummer as the wheel is barely a month old. In this wimpy litle crash, my 26 inch Mavics 721 would have suffered no damage.

No 29er parts up here in Tahoe so ordered a new hoop and spokes. Watta Bike in Meyers is a good shop, small shop good mechancis but very little parts in stock. If i have to I can canablize my One-9 and get a geared bike. I have always thought Tahoe Meadows to Spooner via the Flume would be a good SS ride. We'll see. Having only rode that area once and never that route I dropped two teeth down to 32x20. I am a little aprehensive about SS tomorrow as I am on day 5 of riding. Good news is finially a guy is coming up, Raul should be here sometime tomorrow.

Absolutely beautiful, Dean. Stunning, actually. I hear there's a lake up there, too. True?

Anything I can do to get the Niner back on the dirt? I'll be heading up there on the 11th, so have at least 3 days to track down a wheel for you. The Path can work wonders, as you're probably aware. Let me know.

If you need us to send a wheel out your way let me know. We probably have something pre-built and ready to roll.

Hope the rest of your trip goes well!

Dell and Brian, thanks for the offers. Whatta bike in Meyers will have a new DT Swiss rim and spokes tomorrow and build it up the same day, $30 to build a wheel is not bad for Tahoe prices. Some of the guys at Whatta bike are old 123 bikes employees so they have been around for awhile. Besides they are giving me the scoop on the local stuff. Two weeks is not enough to hit all the trails...a bunch of stuff over by Kirkwood and Echo Lake that I have never heard about.

Dean! You're starting to mumble... there's so many beautiful trails there that it's having an effect upon you. Try turning the TV on and watching some reruns of Bonanza... no wait, that was filmed there!

What ever you do... stay safe & come home healthy bro.

7.1d DT swiss rim and DT double butted spokes.

Tani at the Path built it so that is not the problem...the problem is my 220 lbs.

not trying to bash Tani.

maybe we need different rims and spokes. lets build up a Rhino Lite or Stans Flow wheelset.

i beat on my Niner harder than you beat on yours and the Rhino Lites are stout, the Flow would be pricier and lighter and probably just as stout.

anyway, glad you didn't get hurt! have fun!

Impy, I have watched Steve's video of you doing that trail.

I don't know if you have rode Christmas Valley Trail down from near Darnelle Lake, it has been re-routed and the local downhillers are not happy. Having never rode it before I thought it was great. The upper parts are not ready for prime time...it needs rain and traffic. But all around great trail.

I did my longest single speed ride today at 23.9 miles, Tahoe Meadows to Marlette Lake and back to Tunnel Road. Anyways, I love Tahoe and it is enough to make me want to move back to Nor-Cal. I wonder if you miss it as much as I do.

I just got back to the cabin and I am waiting for the shower...then maybe I can post a couple. I try to get the girls to post a RR so far no go...I will try to encourage them again. CC has been taking pics!

I get the felling that you are not going to be able to come up Mike?

Um nice hijack dudes...we are talking about awesome Tahoe trails, I think you might want transfer over to the injury report?

No carnage here, just killer single track!

Tackeling this trail was my own personal victory. Last time was really a struggle this time around was pure thrill!

This was definatly the way to do this section of the trail. I must be smiling so much because this time I was really able to enjoy this trail. Most people enjoy the decent down from the bench back to Spooner. This time around I had a blast hitting the rocky technical section heading down to Kingsbury.

Dean and I have done our homework for you slim, jasper and slappy, found the best bike shop in south shore. One new wheel and a busted derailluer later and have previewed most of the trails for you. Haven't found a trail we didn't like yet. Still saving a couple of the best trails for the second shift!

Hurry up guys. We're ready for HITG!
