Riders on the solar storm

What's the scoop on the rooms? My wife is out of town. I haven't been on the site for about 2 months (19,145 unread posts you've all been busy!)and then I was thinking about a trip to Blue Jay and saw this. Is it too late to get in on the action? I have the aweet carpool ride and will drive!!! I could just camp out on the porch if you would prefer!!!
Count me in on the XC group. Maybe rent a DH for one day for my virgin DH ride!!!????

Count me in! After much harassment and peer pressure from Chuck (aka Happy Gilmore), I have finally decided to go. Apparently, "all the cool kids are doing it."
AND what the hell....it's the last time I'll get to ride mammoth before it's time to bust out the skis. Already have travel and logding arrangements made. Dude, go for it. Sooo worth it. How can one possibly resist the temptation? You probably want to rent at one of the local shops like Footloose on Old mammoth road and Main. They're renting these pretty sweet looking Norco bikes and specialized Demo 8's. I wasn't too impressed with what I saw for on-mountain rentals. I'm not sure prices are. |

Lee- most of the runs (i.e. network of trails) in Mammoth AREN'T anywhere near that rocky! Those guys were looking for it!
They also did a pretty damn good job of taming the mountain! ![]() PUMICE- Now there is a good reason for wider tires in Mammoth! ![]()

Sierra Lodge. It was $99 a night during labor day weekend. It's near Main street and Minaret road. It's probably more like $75 or less this weekend since it's off season. I've stayed there for as little as $60 a night. http://sierralodge.com |

Which is better? Skiing/boarding or riding Mammoth?
I'd say skiing. I'm a much better hucker with a pair of sticks on my feet. Can't wait for that flaky white pow to dropping from the sky. But until then, I'll settle for some DH riding. |
