Since I've had so many inquiries, I'm still considering going up and don't have accomodations figured out yet.

I would mostly be going up to hit some of the xc trails and to hang with everyone after a great day of riding.

So Jeff I might be interested in the MVP discount.

I think there is a good chance there will be a group going up early Friday morning to get some extra riding in. (I'm planning to take Monday off also for recovery.)

Yeah Nancy, I'm bringing the Nomad - I love that bike, and it's itching for something new to ride on. :-)

I'm not sure where I'm staying yet Allison ...

Winston, let me know if a group goes up early, because I'm up for that!

That's kinda expensive just to get tires no? I'll be ordering Spokes some new tires for Mammoth. Do you recommend going Chunders for both F & R or F and she can use her Nevegals rear?

Totally up to you guys... I know they wouldn't be a year round tire for her, but if she does decide to go out for Fontana DH practice to check out the course, she'd probably like them there also. it gets pretty sandy and loose in the corners.

If she was fine in the pumice last time on the rental bike then I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's not like I'm "hooked up" like at Whistler, but the Chunders are a bit nicer than the 2.35 Nevegal's. Er, I've never ridden Neve's 2.35 in Mammoth, but I imagine the Chunders to out-perform them

You could also probably get a Neve 2.5 if it's easier to find (for the front).

Andy,

Is the hope for Newrubberspokes to use these tires outside of Mammoth as well? If so, and you'd consider another option, definitely take a look at the Big Betty. Mine has hooked up nicely in all the loose stuff that's found down here, from the dead organic mulch of Big Bear to the talc that's currently covering Aliso, and I honestly couldn't be happier with it. Seems to run pretty large for a 2.4, too.

Little pricey, but the Triple Compound is really holding up beautifully and looks like it'll last a good while. Word has it Stan's doesn't take to them very well, though, so if you're planning to go that route you might want to keep looking.

Grab some 2.6 kendas for $9 each. Perfect for limited use. Like a weekend in Mammoth. I think I'll do a complete set!

like Dell said, the BB is a very good alternative to chunder and will work for a lot of conditions. Its pricey at ~$50, but i've put nearly 1,000 miles on my last one and it took a beating before some side knobs finally tore off. I believe schwalbe makes a sealant so you can run them tubeless if needed.

I just left the Weirwolf tires (2.55) on my Nomad (came on it), and I love them. I usually run 25 psi, and it works for long xc rides and shuttles. Great tires.

I used Chunders F2.5 & R2.5 at Mammoth over the Labor Day Weekend they had incredible holding power in the pumice berms, excellent terrain specific tire.

I am hoping to ride Mammoth Sat & Sun 9/22-23. Where will STR be staying? I rode with STR at Snow Summit a couple of times last month, great group of people.

A big group of us is staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn (behind the Gondola).
