WoOoOoOoOoOoWwWw...

Winston is considering staying home? He is the toughest man in America. For him not to go..... he must know something! I say we all just cancel..... NOT!

C'mon Winston.... It will give you a chance to trail test all of your new purchases! Just kidding. Do what you gatta do!

QUESTION: If it does rain/snow on Saturday, would it be better to wear a base layer under my SHORTS and armor (OR) would it be better to just wear lightweight ski pants. If I wear spring pants- not sure I will be able to wear bike shorts under them! Too small!

I expect day time temps will melt the smattering of snow, at least for the lower half of the mtn. i think most of the trails will be faster with a bit of snow on top! [/quote]

It's going to be softer to fall on too! I'm stoked to be going, Noble last week, Mammoth this. It's like I'm not married any more or something!! I've had my bag packed since Tuesday night. Anyone want to try to meet up tommorrow night for some pre weekend beverages. I'm hoping to get there around 7 ish. Hit a brew pub!

Yep on the fence big time. Concerned that trail conditions won't be worth it. Will be sick for 2 to 3 weeks following the trip. Tearing up the bike. Only good weather day is Sunday.

On the plus side…the CookingSpokes menu.

I'll make a decision before I leave work.

Default Whats the..

worst that can happen, we get some limited riding. Then we have to spend the rest of our time sampling the local watering holes, & buying end of year rentals in moments of booze induced stupidity.
I'm hoping we get snowed in for a week so I don't have to A, go back to work & B, finish painting the spare bedroom. I'll bring a box of screws incase we need to spike the tires!!

Worst case scenario, go ride Lower Rock Creek on Saturday or hit the hot springs.

PM me for cell #. There will probably be some of us hanging out somewhere.

I dig Lakanuki in the Village. They've got Fat Tire on tap, eh.

I have an idea. Need some help though. If someone can "procure" an Iron Horse Sunday for me to ride (preferably Sam Hill's bike), the heat generated from my tires should melt a clear enough path for everyone to safely follow! /quote]

Dino, you'd have better luck melting the snow with all that hot air that spews out of your mouth regarding a certain bike company. ( I can't even say I/H anymore!)
J/K buddy, glad to see you're going, I might even buy you a beer! (if you can stop saying I/H for like 2 seconds)

I'm with you Andy....Luckily I have no expectations except to try and ride a little and socialize a lot.

Ian, we should run into each other at Jeff's house, but I'll PM you my # if you want to meet up with a few of us for some brew.

Beer?
At the brewery?
At 7 tomorrow night?

Done.

See y'all there!

p.s. - like the idea of rock creek as an alternate - it should just be wet and cold, not snowy, wet and frozen! And the hot springs are on the way back to town from there...

Mammoth Brewing is upstairs from Whiskey Creek, on the corner of Minaret Road and Lake Mary Road (Minaret is the one you take to the lodge), and they have good food and great beer. Both their IPA and Double Nut Brown have treated me well...

IPA sucks!! ahaha!

No, really...

But, BeerSpokes and I were enjoying the Double Nut Brown, and I like their light beer also..

That's weird... I never knew that's where it was. My parents used to go to Whiskey Creek like 20 years ago (+). I've never been to either.

7 pm it is.

I'm bringing a couple extra tires, both Maxxis Minions, a 2.7 and a 2.5 brand new. So if someone needs a wider footprint to ride through the snow (?) you're welcome to borrow/buy them from me if needed.

Clocktower Bar also usually has a diverse selection of some pretty good beers (even some that aren't IPA's!), both on draft and in the bottle - they're downstairs under the Alpenhof hotel, about 100 yards up Minaret from the brewery. Defiantely worth a stop by, though sometimes they close up for a week in the fall to spruce up before the winter hordes...hope that's not this week!

I'll call dibs on the 2.5; is it the front or rear tread pattern?
