I was a little late, thank you traffic accident on the 91 to the 71!!!
, but caught up with Jesse, Robert Moore and Daniel at the duck pond. They are doing fine and having a blast. Jesse borrowed a Rocky Mountain from Kurt, your freindly socal Rocky Mountain Rep!, and is enjoying the gears and squish..sorry Jose, I guess he is lazy ![]() On a side note Once again some jackass has dug 2 holes along the horse trail right before you get to the duck pond parking lot!!! One is easy to see, its on the top section of the fork, and the 2nd is between the trees as you gather speed towards the duck pond parking lot...this is getting pretty ridiculous and dangerous............anyone for a little night recon to see who is doing this?? I am 100% serious because if it was my daughter or wife hitting that section it could be very painful, I'd like to know who wants to hurt my family and friends ![]() just a rant but again happy birthday Jesse, you guys are killing it today!!

Master says Faster!

Sorry it took so long to get this thing posted. Things get backed up when you take a day off from work and family. 7 laps I set out to do, and 7 laps were completed. The bike loaned to me by Kurt from Rocky Mountain Bikes was their 4 inch travel Element 50, which had an f100rl fork, rp23 rear shock, carbon stays, and lx shimano disc brakes. Other than the normal cable stretch and adjustment during such a long ride, it performed admirably with my indecisive shifting. I'm so used to riding a single speed that this shifting thing with suspension got a little on the comfortable side. The propedal switch on the rear shock was helpful on the uphills, but I left it completely off on the last three laps given the ever rising ache in my a$$!
I was joined my good friend Mr. Moore, new man on the boards that goes by Nomad. He pedalled all 7 laps with me on his GT i-drive with platform pedals. I still don't know how he did it. I have never had the privelege of riding with such an amazingly positive person, and it really made the long day easier. With all of the fluid, fuel, and bathroom breaks between us and the others who joined us for a few laps, it took us a hair over 12 hours to do the whole thing. We could have gone faster, but we literally did have all day, and I didn't want to come back and say that I blew up and didn't finish. Lap one was just like any other lap at the loop. Lap two was starting to warm up and was a faster time. Lap three was probably one of the hardest physically. It just sucked! Lap four was fairly easy, still getting warmer. Lap five was as crappy as number three, just hotter. Lap six was the most difficult mentally. My body was really tired, and we were running out of things to talk about. Lap seven was a victory lap. My body just wanted it over with. My a$$ and wrists were done, my knees were in pain, my toes were numb, I was doubting my fuel and hydration strategy as I felt like there wasn't much left in me. A steady diet of water, gatorade, peanut m&m's, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, cold chocodiles (awesomeness), and about a half a dozen bananas and cliff bars kept me going all day. If I had the chance to do it again, I would totally do it. A big thanks to my friend Nomad(Mr. Moore), Neil and Traci and a kind birthday note from Mattie the heckler, My buddy Wreck who did three of the laps with us, after never having done more than one before, and the kind encouragement from all here.(That's you boats!) Sorry no photos, I don't have a camera and everybody else forgot. |

I believe you understood me wrong. I was only wanting to do the right thing for that poor suffering Horse in the picture. It looked to me as though it had been granny geared to death, a hard life to be sure. But i believe that your problem lies in your obsession. We all have obsessions, but I think yours stems from the methane high brought about by the Horse's fecal matter that is left on the trail for all of us to avoid. Now, Dino, you carry such a big shovel all of the time, I think you should breathe out when you sling it over your shoulder, as opposed to breathing it in!!!
May the Horse serve you well for many years and serve as a reminder to the rest of us that horse pucky in smaller doses is what the whole world needs! |

I have been considering a "second bike" for some time. If I split my obsessions between TWO bike brands, I will have much more "material" to annoy everyone with! Thanks for the great idea. ![]() |
