** Changing this to Sunday 8/12 so we can DH on Saturday.
Date is up for consideration if this doesn't work out for anyone. Justin and I did this ride this past Saturday and really enjoyed it. We started out at the bike path parking lot off of College Blvd. in Oceanside and rode up to San Onofre. Possibility to continue from there depending on how everyone is feeling. Shouldn't be a ton of climbing, since it's costal. Just an easy out and back. There's a gas station about 7 miles in, and we could always stop while riding through Pendleton. A nice break spot is the San Onofre state beach for a place to sit and eat. Hammer heads (JUSTIN!) we'd like to keep everyone in a decent group or two and regroup when necessary. I can't carry a crazy fast pace, but I know some of you peeps can. I avg'd 16.8 MPH last Saturday. With a bigger group it may go up a bit. Sorry, I'm slow ![]() |

Sounds like a fun ride. I'd definately be up for it. What dates are you considering?

this 50 miler is really easy. mostly flat, by cyclist standards it would be considered dead flat.
wind schmind, when you have a mule like me pulling out front all you have to do is hang on! ![]() I towed Allison 90% of the time and we completed the ride with 3hrs of ride time. We stopped for breaks several times and had one flat. with a group working together we could probably reduce the ride time down to 2 hrs... wait, i would rather keep the ride time at 3 hrs and just keep going to Dana Point! ![]() |

we try to keep a decent pace, but nobody gets left behind. allison is not super fast, so she usually sets the pace, but if we have someone slower than her the group is only as fast as the slowest person. that is my rule.
i am usually the one at the front pulling, so all you have to do is yell at me and i can always slow down. ![]() |

I'm good to maintaining around 23 mph for that area, but I don't mind pulling either. I'll do whatever the group decides, if I'm in town.

I can usually sustain around 20MPH by myself on a flat, if not a little more. There's not much climbing on the route either, but if we string out on a climb we can always regroup after. |

We will meet at 8AM, riding by 8:15AM.
Here is the link to get directions... http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=&d...30045743&h1=en If the start time is not good, let us know. The later we start, the higher the probability of fighting a good headwind on the way back. |
