Totally last minute but tomorrow (Friday 7/20) a few of us are doing an new trail (for us) from Sherman pass, down to Johnsondale bridge.
Its mostly downhill and has less climbing than the Cannel but it should be technically more difficult. We have a free shuttle lined up (wife) and are meeting at the river park in Kernville at 9am Anyone up for a last minute epic? Geno 760 -417 -1617 |

Nice, that would be new dirt for many of us. Pics and a full RR would be welcomed.
Were is Johnsondale Bridge? Is it the bridge near the turnoff to go up to Sherman Pass? Dean

The ride was good. Its definitely epic. Its about the same distance as the cannel but harder miles.
All of the trails (except for "four mile trail) were in very good shape and were tons of fun. The views were awesome the whole ride. Its a great all day ride. All in all I am glad I did it but I am pretty beat down from it and it will be a while till I return. I was surprised how much great single track there was in the area. I was impressed. Geno ![]() |

Was it shared use with the motos? More tech than Cannell? Pics?

Motos are allowed on most of the link up we did. The first part of the ride ("Sherman peak trail") and the last 5+ miles (the connector trail below rincon and "4 mile trail") are off limits to motos.
Here is a link to a map that has the trails listed that are used by motos. We went from Sherman peak took fire roads out to Schaeiffer meadow trail, to cedar creek trail, to the rincon then down to the river and out of the 4 mile trail. Off-Highway Vehicle Guide, Sequoia National Forest, Cannell Meadow Ranger District I would call it more technical than the cannel for sure. Definitely more committing and remote. I will try to get pics from Dave and Allison who had a camera. Gene |
