Thursday Jul 26 Mountain Bike Powder Day!

The weather in the high country this week is the kind that mountain bikers dream about. It has been starting out sunny in the morning and rain is falling in the afternoon, packing down the trails and giving riders excellent traction. Our recommended trail this weekend is Beach Cruiser, where you can go for a nice up-and-down cross country trek around the scenic back side of the mountain.

Starting this weekend, take your bike up Stump Alley Express (Chair 2). The high-speed quad will run Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm through Labor Day. As always, a Bike Park Pass is required to board the chairlift, gondola and uphill shuttle.

NEW! Tickets for the Bike Park and Scenic Gondola are now available for advance purchase online at MammothMountain.com/bikepark.
For updates on trail conditions, call our Summer Adventure Report at 888.SNOW.RPT or visit MammothMountain.com

I'll be up there for the beer festival saturday - would definately be interested in hooking up for some of y'all for some XC riding (don't think the Jamis XLT could take too much DHing!) on the mountain, or at the least a beer at the Clocktower just to meet more STR folks! Gonna be camping with mostly non-riding friends, but still want to get a ride in saturday morning and then most of the day sunday before bombing home that night. If any of y'all haven't been to this beer festival before I'd highly recommend it - all the fun of a normal beer festival, just set up in mammoth!
Still working on dragging some riding friend along to this. You'd think it would be easy, riding mammoth, live blues, and great beer...

JasonMason- I rode Mammoth last year on a XC Trek . If not for the shifter cable that I tore off AND a broken seat post....... What I am trying to say is 75% of the mountain can be enjoyed by your average mountain bike.

How much travel does it have? I used my Stumpjumper last year (5" FS) on a variety of trails on the mountain and was okay. I'll be having a LOT more fun this year, but the Stumpy did what I needed it to do. If you get a chance, and are somewhat comfortable on DH trails at least check out Off the Top, Beach Cruiser, Downtown, and probably even Seven Bridges.

Here are some of my favs:
 1. Skid Marks to Paper Route to Juniper
 2. Skid Marks to Lincoln Express to Brake Through
 3. Skid Marks to Paper Route to Big Ring
 4. Get off mid station and do Gravy Train to Bearing Straights to Beach Cruiser

Good recommendations... Skidmarks I think is rated more difficult than Off the Top (it is a bit), but for the most part is doable.

Skidmarks -

Mammoth Trail Report - Last Updated: Jul 25, 2007 12:21 PM

The Mammoth Mountain Bike Park expects to be 100% open by Friday July 27, including the section of Upper Velocity that was closed last week. Enjoy 90 miles of single track trails that are in excellent shape, especially after it rained on Tuesday. The trail crew has been hard at work enhancing some trails (including Velocity and DC-10) with new wooden features. The intermediate Kamikaze Park is now open, with log rides, dirt rollers and the mini Bike Dragon.

Starting this weekend, take your bike up Stump Alley Express (Chair 2). The high-speed quad located near Main Lodge will run Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm through Labor Day. As always, a Bike Park Pass is required to board the chairlift, gondola and uphill shuttle.

Look for four new trails to be added to the map by summer's end! The trail crew has broken ground on Techno Rock, moving dirt and building giant drops. Techno Rock's drops will range from 1 to 20 feet.
2-hour bike lessons are offered at 10am and 2pm daily. Call 800.MAMMOTH to reserve a spot.

NEW! Tickets for the Bike Park and Scenic Gondola are now available for advance puchase online at MammothMountain.com/bikepark.

If you haven't checked out the Top of the Sierra Interpretive Center & Cafe yet, now is a good time - the nice weather makes the sundeck a great place to enjoy a tasty smoothie, sandwich or a cold beer.
Happy Trails!

SKID MARKS is completely doable. Its a bit rocky and somewhat loose but there no stunts or jumps on SKID MARKS. This is the first season I've ridden Skid Marks where there is no snow to ride through. Usually on that part of the mountain there is glacier that rarely melts. No snow this season.

BTW check out your first picture and then my avatar
